Naw, I set off my car's panic alarm! It was hardly heard over fireworks and people banging on pots and pans!
People are rather loud in my street and round the blocks nearby.

I was in beautiful Southern New Jersey, fast asleep, but my neighbor went out there with pots and pans last night at midnight.
Then somebody exploded some loud firecrackers around 1:15 a.m. Sounded like gunshots.
I was too tired from long hours of working a demanding job.
(The kids in Bristol still do the Bristol stomp? Just kidding, I know Bristol in England, I've been there, and to Bath, London, Oxford and even King's Lynn where the Queen's mother used to live).

Banging on pots and pans is used in Latin America as a protest. I suppose because it's very irritating.
Here in Spain they just set off lots of fireworks...with the resulting injuries, of course.
Can't we just snog our partner and go to sleep?

We use to bang pots and pans when we were kids. Passed the tradition on to grandkids. They try so hard to stay awake. We live in the USA

Nowdays I live in a small town where they don't do such things, but where I grew up (Detroit) they go out in the street and shoot thier guns at midnight on New Year's. Sounds like freakin' Beruit.

Our neighbours do this, and it drives me potty. Much more likely to wake you up than fireworks! (and, no, I'm not a party pooper, just a tired mummy who knows she'll have to be up in a couple of hours!)
We're in Kent.
