Sin is the breaking of God's law. If God says "Do not lie" and you lie, then you have broken His law and sinned. When you sin, you offend God because it is His law that you have broken. Also, the reason God says to not lie, not cheat, etc., is because these laws reflect the moral purity of His nature. Therefore, the Law is a reflection of the character of God. It is wrong to lie because God cannot lie. It is wrong to steal because God cannot steal, etc. The moral law is not arbitrary. It is based on God's holiness.
The law, then, is a standard of moral purity. The Old Testament contains the Law of God. It is a perfect standard because it is God's standard. When we fail to keep the law, we sin. When we sin, we offend God. This offense against God results in a judgment. Laws are laws because they have penalties. There is no law without a penalty. Therefore, breaking God's law brings judgment which is separation from God. "But your sins have made a separation between you and your God," (Isaiah 59:2). And, "the wages of sin is death..." (Rom. 6:23). So, to sin, to break God's law, results in judgment. The judgment is known as damnation which is the righteous judgment of God upon the sinner. If God did not judge the sinner, then He is not upholding His holiness and he would be allowing sinners to go unpunished.
Of course, Jesus came to take our place and die for our sins (1 Pet. 2:24). This means that Jesus bore our sin in His body on the cross and paid for them. He took the judgment upon himself. This further means that anyone who trusts in what Jesus did on the cross will have his sins removed; he will be saved from God's future judgment.
So, replying to the question "What is sin?" is best answered by saying that it is breaking God's law. All people have sinned. Therefore, all people are under God's judgment -- except for those who've trusted in God's provision to escape that judgment.
Where are you? Are you in the place of God's judgment or of salvation in Christ?

I believe we are judged by our intentions not our actions. That is why Jesus tells us not to judge each other...we often don't know the intention of the action.

Take an extreme example: You see a man leaning over a child and cutting the child's throat. You might judge him as a murder, but perhaps his intention is to heal. If he is a doctor who is performing an emergency tracheotomy because the child was choking to death.

The same could be said for abortion to save the mother's life so she can live to care for her existing family.

If such a being exists, any way he/she/it pleases. Either way, they ain't an infinite God, otherwise nothing else could exist. :-). Put another way, what different could a harmless germ on a flea make to the elephant the flea lives on? Or to the forest the elepant lives in?
Nothing we do would make a difference to some kind of being that creates universes for a hobby. It's egotistical, mythical stuff that says we would be noticed me thinks. Still, folks gotta have their entertainment.

First of all, will be whether we have accepted Jesus Christ as our loving saviour. If we have, we go to heaven to live forever with God. If we have not, we go to hell. Then if we are in the Lamb's book of Life, we will be judged for our works. That determines what level of heaven we go to. God bless you !!!

God saw only "good" x 6, then "very good" 7th time: Gen 1.
God(His Grace: Charity never faileth) thinketh no evil(law).
God has only one judgment, the same as the Son in Jn 8:
Neither do I condemn(law) thee; Go and sin(law) no more.
The end of the God Shew is also written, and it's grace us:

The GRACE(God) of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

we will all be judged on the following TWO questions:
1. did we love God above all else
2. did we love our neighbor as we love ourselves

Jesus has taught us, "when you do it for the least of my brothers, you do it for me."

caring for and loving our neighbor symbolizes our love for God.

God is unconditionally loving. Unconditional means no conditions.

No conditions mean that there is nothing to judge.

Love and blessings Don

We judge ourselves and each other. Why worry about what a character from mythology might do if it were real?
