It does not help its all hype..Start reading on the dangers of vaccines. This is a scam and has very dangerous side effects..both short term and long term. People really need to start reading and not just follow the masses. Always wonder why things are done ..then check why they are.

Mostly the flu shot is not causing you to be sick. It can cause you to feel sick for the first couple days. The flu shot doesn't cause the flu since the virus is dead. Are you allergic to eggs. If you are than you are most likely allergic to the shot. I am a Respiratory therapist and I know for a fact that the flu shot helps. COPD have a harder time in the winter since the cold usually cause some bronchospams. You would have been sick without the flu shot just worse. I would check with your Dr to see if they need to increase your inhalers or see if you can get on Spiriva which is a new drug that really helps COPD from getting sick all the time. Best of luck!

You probably have and RSV infection or similar, which is unrelated to the flu. The Flu shot will greatly lessen your chances of getting the flu. It will not stop any bacterial infection or Pneumonia ormost other viral infections which people often call the flu, but are not.
By lessening your chances of the Flu viruses covered by this shot, you have a much lower chance of acquiring more serious respiratory illnesses and infections.
You might look at it this way, think how much worse you might be without it! Again it won't stop other viruses and is not a MAGIC Bullet against the flu, but it helps.
I have taken them for 9 years and I did have the flu anyway the first year and a very very mild case about 4 yrs ago, but it would have been worse without the shot. Also, tho' everyone around me often has the flu (I work w/ kids) 7 of 9 years I had none.
I have asthma so that's why I take it. Has your Dr. mentioned the pneumonia shot for you? You might ask him/her.
I hope you feel better very soon tho'.
Being sick is never fun.

I am 56 years old. I also have COPD. I take a flu shot every year and have no problems. If you have never had the flu then you have no idea how severe flu can be. You have problems breathing now but until you have experienced the real flu you will never have a real idea of just how bad it can be. It is something I prey to god I never get again. I have had the flu twice in my lifetime (no flu shot) and it is as close to feeling like I am going to die than I ever want to feel again. Look up flu symtoms and you will see what I mean.

I never take the flu shot. Besides that, my dr told me that they started a study in the 70s and the results are now in that people who took the flu shot back then have a 10 times higher rate of Alzheimer's today due to the mercury in the shot. I don't know if its true, but it doesn't matter I suppose since I don't plan on taking the shot anyway.
I hardly ever get the flu even though I don't take the shot.

Flu shots help by giving your immune system a little bit of the disease. They then know how to fight off the disease if you end up getting it for real. You'll be ill a less amount of time, and maybe you'll never feel the illness. It's smart to get the flu shot. I have asthma and one year I got sick from the flu in the flu shot. It was nasty, and many people have gotten the flu without getting the flu shot. I had much milder symptoms than I would if I didn't take the shot. Your immune system probably didn't know how to fight it off as soon as it entered. Best of luck to you getting over your illness.

the flu shot changes every year depending on what flu's are found to be common, it's not live so it will not get you sick, as some one pointed out more commonly allergy to eggs can make you feel sick or already having a 'bug'. It's not for everyone only those who would be compromised by getting the flu virus.
also those vaccines used years ago are very different from what is used today ... come on it's not far fetched that studies and technology changes what is done over the years .

I would suggest that having the flu is a way toward better health. It will slow you down for a few days while your immune system works hard to cleanse your body but afterwards you will be rested and stronger also less inclined to catch it again. Its nature's method to kill off the weak to keep the majority population clean and healthy. Massive innoculation for flu is unnecessary and probably dangerous to society
