Depression rears its ugly head with so many different effects. Some people have difficulty sleeping and some people stay inbed or ly on the couch not doing anything or else sleeping all the time. With depression a person generally doesnot feel like doing anything. Other signs are a feeling of hopelessness, despair, sadness, not eating or overeating,no self-worth,and it can become life-threatening. The depressed person needs understanding and perhaps professional help. Talking to a therapist may help. Then together the therapist and the person can decide on whether the person needs a hospital(particularly if the depressed person is suicidal) or if they feel like the person may need an antidepressant. It is difficult is you are depressed but try to be an informed patient especially when agreeing to take any medication.

during depression there are many chemical changes taking place in the brain. Some people sleep a lot..others can't at all. Its a normal part of being depressed. You should talk so someone if you want to hurt yourself. Major depression sometimes can be helped with medication but medication holds a risk as well. Depression can and does lift on its own..3 week-1 year. However talk therapy and sometimes medication is needed. You know your body best but before you let any doctor just hand you a pill please please read up on class action lawsuits taking place against the makers of these drugs and withdrawal effects people have from them. Also some people have an increased suicide risk from taking these meds. Learn all you can and then you can make an informed choice. Its your body and your choice, A doctor is not a God. They do not know everything. Self education is the best thing you can do in this life for yourself. Remember in the end it will be you taking that pill and not your family, friends or doctor...so your choice.

I have it too, and I think its because whatever's got us down, is also something that we just can't shut down out of our heads when we're lying there trying to go to sleep....... But, I also have Anxiety... I'm on medication for it, but sometimes even my meds dont help... I've been on them for so many years, and before that went alot of years without daring to see a Physician for it, I was pretty stubborn in those days, about going to the doctor. And it wasn't until I was working two jobs, and raising three little ones, alone, that I finally had, HAD it, and went to see a doctor for the Anxiety, and Depression... If you haven't seen one already, then you definately need too..... Good-Luck, to you....... Just take one day at a time, and always remember suicide will put you or anyone in INSTANT Hell !!! That should never be an OPTION !!!! So, please dont ever resort to that, okay!!! You just need to try to think of all you have to be Thankful for, even if its the mere fact God gave you another day , a roof over your head, or a nice computer to talk to people like us, who care... Think of all your blessings, you know.. That might help you out of your "Slump", one way or another you know..... You take care of you, in the meanwhile for us here on Yahoo....

Possibly worrying, anxiety, or mental exhaustion to the point where all you want to do is sleep. It definitely disturbs the body.
