I haven't read the book nor do I intend to. The only accurate information about Jesus is found in the King James Version Bible. The da vinci code is just a tool of Satan to confuse people. If you want to know about Jesus....READ THE BIBLE!!!

Ok . .I'll answer. Basically it is a "conspiracy theory" which tries to provide reasonable doubt about Jesus' life. It is based in part on gnostic christianity and the belief that it is the original christianity taught by Jesus and followed until 325 A.D. when Constantine decided to "embrace "christianity for political reasons. After all it had already been around 300+ years and the movement was only growing. So he made it the state religion and manipulated things by outlawing gnostism and Jesus' teachings about enlightenment and consciousness (more similar to eastern philosophy whereby man can attain higher levels of consiousness through knowledge) and the equal role he intended for women, such as Mary Magdelene, in the church. The book suggests that Mary Magdelene could have played a larger role in history and Jesus' life than we know, in that she was married to Jesus and possibly pregnant with his child and fled when he was crucified. . . .That his bloodline has continued and his decendants are here today is the secret (the holy grail) that is being passed on in the book through a series of codes that must be broken. . .

At the risk of being insulted, it was a very good, entertaining book. What's more fun than a conspiracy theory? People need to lighten up . . . the guy never said it was the truth . . . he only makes us all admit that the remote possibility exists that we DON'T know it all, do we? And THAT's what scares everybody. . .

I totally agree with Gazoo - read Holy Blood, Holy Grail (HBHG) and get the real background story without the constant whining of "lies, all lies" that christians keep moaning.

They just say that to stop you from thinking for yourself, and looking for the truth for yourself. They would much prefer you act like a zombie and believe what you are told to believe.

Anyway HBHG totally changed my life. The scales fell from my eyes and I finally saw just how fake and false and hypocritical the christian religion really is. So I left the church, (being over 18, my parents had no say in the matter). And nothing has changed my mind in the last 20 years since.

In fact the more stupid things christians do and say (like Pat Robertson saying that Chavez should be killed, and Bush saying God told him to invade Iraq), the more they show their stupidity, their hypocrisy and their desperation.

This is where logic and reason come into play.

Basically the story of TDVC has already been mentioned. Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene, they had a child (other sources say they had several children) and the bloodline lives into this present century. (So far there is no proof of this since there is no original DNA from Jesus to test against)

There is no proof for all this - BUT if one applies logic and reason, it is quite probable that Jesus was married since that was the norma of the Jewish culture at the time, its most likely he survived his crucifixion (there is NO record of ANY other humans rising from the dead outside of the 2 listed in the New Testament) and legend says he went to India and taught there and possibly even died there.

The catholic church voted on which books to allow in their Bible and said all the rest were heresy. So you should also read the books of the Nag Hammadi library. They also have stories about Jesus that contradict what the bible says.

Lets face it - The church claims the bible is all you need to get to heaven. So why has the catholic church developed doctrines that are not even in the bible? Purgatory, Indulgences, first communion, infant baptism, confirmation and the worship of saints and the Virgin mary. None of these are doctrines listed in the bible.

So if the church is telling the truth, then the bible must be full of lies, right? So why should I even bother reading it? I have not even owned a Bible let alone read one for 15 years now.

There is one belief that does follow logic and reason. Its called DEISM.
Read Thomas Paine's Age of Reason.
Read the Jefferson Bible.
Read the Nag Hammadi gospels

That is too long for here. Read "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" to get the full ideology without the fictional story around it.

The basics are that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and they had a daughter. Mary and the daughter ended up in France and the blood line is still known.

Yes, DaVinci Code's author, Dan Brown continues to write fiction. That's the "nuance" of ALL his books.

If you want to know the nuances of Christian faith, put DaVinci Code down and read God's Word.

the lies of the da vinci code are those that Jesus and mary magdelene were lovers and got married. the attempt by the author under the influence of satan is to remove the diety of Christ and the truth of who He is and why God gave Him to us as our redeemer...
