Look at all the American war films, you would believe it also. However:
WW1 started 1914....Yanks joined ......1917.
WW11 started 1939..Yanks joined........1941.

They could n't have won on their own...heck..they could n't even beat the Vietnamese.(They conveniently forget that one)

Be careful of generalizations like this. Especially if they're generated by Hollywood movies. There are as many different American views about World War I and World War II as there are different kinds of weather or different kinds of desserts for that matter. The country is still divided almost evenly as to whether atom bombs should have been dropped on Japan or whether military aid should have been given to the Soviet Union in order to bring about Germany's defeat. After all, the Soviets began backstabbing the western allies almost as soon as the war was over - the British and Free French in Indo-China, the British and Americans in Greece. If you were to take a survey among Americans as to whether Britain could have held out against Nazi Germany on its own during World War II, I think you would find that about one third of the people would say "Yes," one third would say "No" and one third would say "Not sure" or "That's not knowable." Likewise, not all Americans would tell you that Americans single-handedly won the World Wars. I've seen American documentaries that give Prime Minister Winston Chrchill, General Bernard Montgomery and 1st Viscount Slim heaps of praise for their roles in World War II. Many American historians have also given Marshal Philippe Pétain credit for halting or at least, slowing down, the German advance towards Paris during World War I.

Here is a little phrase that is always reliable. "American Ignorence"

Ask any American who won WW2 and they'll say "We did". Yet they no absoulutley nothing about any country besides their own.

American's think they saved us, they didn't, they just helped take back Europe, Britain was winning the Battle Of Britain, then Russia started putting pressure on Hitler pushing it more in our favour, and then the Allies stormed Europe. The American's weren't bovered, they wouldn't have got off their arses if their ships weren't torpedoed on the way to Britain.

The war against Japan however that was won by America, but only cos they nuked the whole place. "I know, instead of weakening morale and skillfully doing daring raids at night like the Germans and then the British did, lets send a plane over and totally annihalate a couple of cities causing widescale deaths and suffering, thats the American way!!"

I hope that no one really believes that. GOD was the real force in that war. The British were the warriors in my mind. They held out for such a great part of that war and were attacked day and night for weeks. The Siviet Union and Canadian armies were essential in their efforts as well. I realize that Einstein and the scientists that developed the Atomic Bomb certainly ended the Japanese involvement but most of them were of German descent. If the Japanese had not dragged the Americans into the war, we might have been fighting inside the USA instead of Europe. The German Army certainly was divided but they were well prepared for the battle. There were a number of countries that contributed to the war effort. I am thankful that they acted together to defeat the enemy. Please do not despise every American for the feelings of some of them! Have a great week.

Because the Americans delivered the A-Bomb. But many other countries involved. That's why it was a World War.

What an arrogant , bigoted, uneducated question this is. The UK was about to be invaded by German forces, the French had already surrendered except for a few brave souls. The US came in with it's greatest treasure( the blood and lives of its young men) and helped our allies to throw out the invader.

History that we learn in school basically gives us that impression. Same is with any other country's history program. All countries think they played an integral part in turning the war. Just like Jesus is white. Everyone knows that. But didn't he come from Bethlehem? How many whites were there 2000 years ago? Not many I doubt. Its just what we want to believe.

The Americans only entered the 2 W/W, in it,s third year and that was only because a german U-Boat sunk some of their ships. And Pearl Harbour got them into the war, they were a welcome addition because the commonwealth armies were hard pressed, don,t know how we would have got on without them, better to have them as friends anyways.

Ditto on pretty much what everyone else has said here. But I guess their history books must tell them all that bs. Yeah they helped, but no way did they single handedly win WW2.
