"I wish people were more interested in the roots of things, rather than the various different branches." - Bruce Lee

He was talking about the age-old argument over what martial art style is best. I'd like to use this as an analogy for a moment.

Different martial arts have their own character, their own unique personality. A martial art buff can look at someone practicing their own style and go "Oh, that's Shoto Kan" or "Oh, that's Ai Ki Do" or "Oh, that's Drunken Boxing.". Which is best? It depends entirely on you, your body type, your strategy, your ability to train at different levels of intensity. Some will be better suited to you than others, but that doesn't make the entire style itself better or worse, except perhaps better or worse FOR YOU.

Religion is much the same. There are as many religions as there are martial arts out there, and some are even intertwined. As long as you keep looking at other religions through the tinted lense of your own, you WILL find something wrong with them.
If you look at the root, which is the Unknowable Divine, instead of the branches, which are the teachings of Men, these problems cease to exist because they are small, trivial, petty differences. Some folks spend (or waste) their entire lives obsessing over these tiny differences in dogma and doctrine and it says a lot about the mentality of those who argue them so vehemently.

Bruce was ahead of even this time. He was politically correct before it was politically correct to BE politically correct. His teachings were nothing short of visionary. His skill was unmatched and unequaled until the day he died. He was only 32, and his ability bordered on the supernatural. Were he still alive today, with ANOTHER 30 years of training under his collection of belts, he'd be nearly unstoppable.

Why? Because he knew the Root.

We are not fighting over the same things...if we were there would be no reason to fight...and would you not think that at least years agos someone would have figured that out if we WERE fighting over the same thing.

The are sometimes very subtle differences that seperate some religions from the others.

That is how you get the different denominations of the same religion. People tend to blame christianity for this...but the same thing happens in islam.....(different type of muslims)

Greedy and insane people use anything they can to get power, influence and control. Over the years, the control of the masses has been accomplished through different ideals, including religious ones. However, regimes like some communist ones and the fascists as well used other things to accomplish equal, if not worse evils. Religions is not so much at fault as the naivete of the masses and the greed of the few.

There are many similarities between Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, as well as other faiths, but many people focus on the differences instead.

Some people don't see that if someone in one faith believes in an all powerful, all knowing, most merciful, everlasting, sovereign, omnipotent Creator of all things, then they believe in the same God that a second person of a different faith believes. How else could we be obeying the first commandment? How else could there only be ONE GOD?

Most of the time, we are not fighting with each other. We are sharing what we know with others, and some who do not believe wish to interfere with our right to do so on a forum that presupposes that religion and spirituality exist.

I used to be on a religion usenet, and we had athiests bombard that group all the time too. I guess they have nothing else to do, but try to make people uncomfortable with their presence.
They must be uncomfortable themselves, if that is all that they have to do.

There's only two sorts of "religion" in Bible:
Impure religion: Grace + Law (addead)
Pure religion: Grace (is sufficient: no law req'd)

Pure religion (James 1:27) paid a "visit", not a ransom.
Pure religion arrived undefiled and remained unspotted.
Visited those "afflicted" with a bad case of Grace + Law.
For Grace + Law is as if Life + Death(added) = Dead End.
Pure religion said endure unto the end to be saved (graced).

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Well I think people unconsciously look for drama and confrontation. I also think we find it really difficult to accept people different from us. It is not very easy to broaden the boundaries of your mind. We tend to look at others and evaluate our own lives. Some want to avoid that by being rooted in prejudice and dogma.

I don't fight, argue, or get mad over my religion.
I am a Christian. I do what Jesus commanded us to do. We are to spread the Gospel to all the world in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

its complicated. Learn about politics and religion, and society...and MAYBE you'll get a clue about the mess.

That and people can be idiots no matter how civilized.
