my guy went to pilot school, and says this: yes, you could become a pilot, but youd have to work your butt off for the next few years. airlines require somewhere around 2000 total flight hours of experience and most require 500 hours in a specific aircraft. so, you would have to complete your school, (can be done in a year.) and get a job immediately (probably as an instructor or in small craft.) to log hours like mad. airlines want to hire people with at least 20 years left in them, and the cut off age for pilots set by the FAA is 60. meaning, you would have to finish school and get your hours before you turned 40. its possible. but will take some dedication. he suggests that you go to your local smaller airport, or look up a smaller flight school in your area, and pay the small amount of money for an introctory few lessons. really try to imagine doing that for hours and hours straight every day, possibly being gone for two days on end, with awful jet lag. if that sounds awful, look up some other pilot jobs, if youre the adventurous sort, there are thousands of interesting jobs in strange places for pilots. if you have the money and really want it, relocate and enroll in one of the large flight schools that the airlines hire directly from. theres even one run by an airline. youre school will be over faster, and youll have a good chance of getting hired for a good job. good luck! (he ended up not finishing because we had a newborn daughter and he didnt want to be away from home that long all the time.)

As far as becoming an airline pilot you are a little behind the eight ball being 32 years old. The airlines require a certain amount of time to get hired. I would suggest that if you really want to do this for a career that you look into attending something like the Delta Connection Academy or something similar. These are schools that will take you right from your private pilots license right to your first interview with a commuter airline (your first step to the airlines)

Good luck!

I am a Boeing 777 pilot for a major airline, and seriously, my advice to you is to stay as far away from the airline industry as possible. The pay and benefits are getting worse and worse, the jobs are very likely to be outsourced in the near future, it will take many years to repay your investment in training if in fact you ever do, the work rules are such that you will likely be exhausted much of the time and your home life is poor at best. You will spend your entire career as a pawn of a huge corporation to whom you are nothing but a burden. Any questions? Don't do it! I'm not kidding.
