Depends on the size of the tree........the more the better.......just hate taking them off every year

I've heard that you should use 100 lights for every foot that your tree is tall (i.e. 6 ft. tree = 600 lights). Take the lights and wrap every branch starting from the inside and working your way out. It works best if you start from the bottom and work your way up as well. It is very time consuming but the results are amazing! I weave my lights over and under up one side of the branch and then back down the other side. If you do it like this you will set up weaving your next branch and the end of your strand will be to the inside of the tree so the plugs will be hidden. Good luck next Christmas!

Well I have a 6 foot tree that is very full and i put 3 sets of 150 lights.. and its just enough.. it gives the room a nice glow and still not too many to look ugly

For a 7ft tree, hubby and I usually put about 500 lights on it. All white....he even wraps the branches all the way to the trunk so it's lit from within, too ... beautiful!
