I mean God gave them to him then he smashed them in a hissy fit. How do we know he got them right after he destroyed the only copy?

Well, how would you feel if God had jst got done telling you not to do something and you got back and everyone was doing that? Plus, how'd you feel if you came off a mountain and everybody was naked dancing around an idol?

Moses gave way to rage & smashed the Ten Commandments. After the nation of Israel was reproved by Jehovah God, he went back & rewritten the Ten Commandments again. I have the faith that he got them right after the destruction of the first copy.

That was his nature and one of the reasons God didn't allow him into the Promised Land. Maybe you haven't noticed, but none of the OT characters are without fault. Another reminder that we are never to make humans into gods like those of neighboring cultures! They were just escaping from a land where the pharoahs were made into gods, and our God tells His chosen people that making humans into gods is never acceptable to Him.

BTW: Read a little further where it says that Moses had to rewrite the 10 Commandments exactly as they were written the first time. You will find that they aren't in the least similar!

I'm no expert but I thought Moses smash it because of his own people were doing sins left to right and he was trying to tell them what god had told him but nobody would listen to him or follow the rules?

So Anger gotten to Moses (A man of peace no less) and he just throw and smash just to get a point across.
As human nature we seems to react to violent than most any other emotions.

Again I'm no expert its just what I remember from Sundays church and that has been years and years ago.. lol..

He did this because when he came down from the mountain, he saw the people of Israel worshipping an idol (a gold calf) that they made. At that time he asked those who wanted to follow him to stand by him and the rest to leave. He then threw the tablets on the mountain. He was then later forced to go back up the mountain and rewrite the Ten Commandments with his own hands (they were previously written by God)

He was pissed!

He was human, not GOD. The people were witnesses to some very powereful sights and miracles. Every time they cried out to GOD HE answered their prayers.

Moses had suffered for them, prayed for them and soon as he turned his back, the people just went buck wild.

We all are created in the image of GOD and if GOD gets angry, what makes you think we as humans won't. He was carrying the weight of a whole community and not getting very much support from them. That's why most of that generation died of before they could enter the "promised land".

Moses did not enter the "promise land" cause he was trying to impress these people to make them behave. Instead of speaking to the rock telling the waters to flow, he struck it with his staff.

He did it because he knew the people were not ready to accept them since they were worshiping a golden calf at the time.He got them right after because he was led by God

Deut.9:16 When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the LORD your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the LORD had commanded you.

He smashed them in anger. They were rewritten by God the next time he went up on the mountain, so the second copy was also accurate. You might say the analogy there is of the two covenants, the Old Testament Law, which were broken by man, and the new Covenant which was kept completely by Jesus Christ.

Seems a bit rash on Moses part.
Certainly has caused a good deal of confusion as well.
Then again lets back up a bit on this one, I mean, he's God.
Certainly could have been a do over for him.
3 or 4 sentences should have done it.
"Moses, messed up, his bad everyone, here it is again, get on with it".
Seems about right.
Would have cleared up a good bit of nonsense if you ask me.
All this, :OH, lets read the signs and OH, he's so mysterious, and OH, we just have to have faith, and OH, HE wouldn't like that".
Leaves a good bit open to wrangle about if you ask me.

God had Moses carve out new blank tablets, and then Moses went back up the mountain where God wrote on these new tablets.
