He's a three-year-old male and for the past few weeks has been trying to get up a hairball, but with no sucess. I'm getting pretty worried. I don't want to take him to the vet because the vets never help (I've tried many) and they are really expensive. Is there something I can do? Is this something to worry about? Thank you!!! Please help.

kitty hairballs ae a fact of life for a cat. feed him his good food, makie sure he has grass to eat--i keep wheatgrass right next to my kitty's food dish--he eats the grass with every feeding and as a snack --

petromalt, a harball formula in petstores, is a good remedy, also--but kitty needs to ea it. some do not like it. some eat it right56 off your finger like candy.

grass and petromalt each help kitty be able to deal with hairballs--you do not have to change diets just because of hairballs. just add to kitty's diet with either of the diet supplements mentioned above. grass is cheaper.........and more natural.

I suggest getting some Petromalt or other hairball medication at the pet store. This should help the hairballs be more easily eliminated from the body, particularly if this is administered as recommended on the package directions. Good luck.

Have you given him any hair ball remedy yet? is he a long or short hair? I think you should take him to the vet because hacking for weeks is not right. something should have come up by now.
When you get this resolved, feed him a hairball control formula food and brush him as often as he will let you. Then he will not swallow so much hair.

I used petroleum jelly (Vaseline) once when my cat was hacking and hacking due to an hairball... I smeared some on the front of both paws and he licked them... and smeared some more when he still hacked... then... next day... no more hacking. Guess the hairball passed through with the poop.

Give him a dab of vaseline (I usually put it on their back leg and they lick it off). It helps the hair ball go through. Do this every few days. They like it, too.

That happened to my cat. He'll cough it up eventually. In the mean time- pat his back and masage his neck, it works for my cat.
