I installed the disc but it is taking up so much space in computer.Do I need that or should I unistall it?

Assuming you have Windows XP, it has some simple functions that will let you download the camera and print pictures. So you don't absolutely need the Canon software.

What the Canon software does is let you edit and adjust your pictures to make them better. If you're not going to do any of that, you don't need it.

If you want to do some simple editing (like cropping), but don't want to give up the space, Irfanview (Google it) is a very small free program.

But mostly I think you need a new hard drive. Storing the pictures you take will take up a lot of space.
