I've been looking at TV's for a while and i can't figure out why there are so many LCD TV's now and not so many plasmas. Are people just not buying plasma's any more?

They have not stopped making plasma TV's at all, in fact Panasonic has just come out with one that is over 100 inches wide costing some $80,000. If you want a truly big screen, then go to plasma as LCD's only go to the 30 plus inch range.Plasma and Projection TV's have the biggest screens while generally, LCD tv's are a lot cheaper in cost for the average consumer and will last a time longer than plasma. After approx. 5 years, if the tube on the LCD goes out, it can be replaced but with a plasma, the whole TV is finished.

I don't know what stores you are visiting, but plasma is doing very well.
The best selling sizes now are 42" and 50" , but eventually they will move to bigger sizes
