As a muslim, an engineer and a scientist, I do not believe in Darwin's theory of evolution. I know how difficult it is for us humans (as smart as we are) to design, optimize, manufacture, and test a machine. Or to write, debug and test a computer program. So it seems to me that someone had to have designed all of the countless species of animals on earth, which are far more complex and far better adapted than any machine we have ever made.

There is also a law in science known as the 2nd law of thermodynamics. It is a proven law which no one disputes. The 2nd law of thermodynamics says that order cannot just appear out of disorder. For example, your room will never get cleaner if you left it alone, but it will get messier. Or if you randomely throw your laundry on the floor, it will not land in nice catagorized piles, with socks on one side, shirts here, and pants over there, all neatly folded.

To say that life began when a bunch of molecules got together and just happened to form a living cell, is to violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics. cells are so complex that we humans have not been able to create one from scratch, even though we have been to the moon, created atomic weapons, airplanes, and computers.

The fact is that random genetic mutations are never beneficial. They cause birth defects, cancers, deformities, or at best they don't cause any harm. They never lead to newer and better adapted species. For example think of an elephant's trunk. No other animal has a nose like an elephants. The elephants trunk has more muscles than an entire human body. It is a very complex system with very specific functions. Is it possible that one day an animal just happened to be born with a trunk and that's how elephants began. Or was an animal born with a slightly longer nose, and its succesive generations got longer and longer noses, until thay reached their current sizes and were able to use them as elephants do today.

Lastly, unlike the Bible, which says that the Earth was created some thousand years ago, The Quran makes no such claim. Infact the Quran says that God sent prophets to every nation on Earth, starting with Adam. The total number of God's prophets was more than 124,000, and the last one was Muhammad, who lived about 1,400 years ago. If all these prophets were sent in the past, then Islam seems to say that we humans have been on this Earth more than a million years. The fact that there are fully human footprints found in fossilized volcanic ash in Africa which are more than 3 million years old just proves the case.

A true Muslim will deny the concept of evolution because they believe in creation.
Surat Al-A'raf 7:54
7:54 Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!
And they believe that the seventh-day Sabbath has been made a memorial of His creation and so whoever transgress on it, is the same as saying that they are descendants of monkey. In other words they agree with Charles Darwin who thinks that they are descendants of monkeys or apes:

Surat al-Baqara 2:65 And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath: We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected."
2:66 So We made it an example to their own time and to their posterity, and a lesson to those who fear Allah

The concept of evolution has been debunked by many but the most famous Muslim who took on evolution and proved it to be a lie is a man named HARUN YAHYAH. Do a web search on this man and see what he has to say about the topic.

Here is the best site

For the Muslim there is no need for separation between religion and science. It is understood from the Quran, revealed over 1,400 years ago, that there is both; "Creation" and "Evolution." And in both instances, it is only Allah who is "Able to do all things." In fact, it was the Muslim scientists, more than 1,000 years ago, who set the stage for the adancement of learning, technology and disciplines in science that we know today.

Allah has explained how He created everythng in the universe and brought all life out of water. He created humans from earth (not monkeys) and there is no need to attempt fabrications of "links" to the animal world in Islam.

The answers have kind of proved what my answer is already.

They reject it and the mountains of evidence that go with it and cling to their holy fairytales instead because they can't think for themselves.

The world would be so much better if religious people opened their minds and gave up their love of ignorance and started trying to find a real truth based on reality and not some mythical storybook.

We dismiss it. And if you saw the channel 4 documentary a few weeks ago "The trouble with Atheism" you would have seen that not all "scientist" agree with him and also the "scientists" agreed it would soon be discounted and found not to be true. :P

Also it is simply that a concept and a theory not FACT!
