There's a 1-2 second delay when I take pictures with the flash. When I first bought it a year ago, had excellent shutter time. The pictures came out crisp and instantaneous.
I've played around with the settings a little, it doesn't seem to make much of a difference, does anyone know what might be the problem.

It sounds like it could be a combonation of two things.....
first keep in mind, that before the camera can fire the flash, it must charge the flash before it can fire it....and if your batterys are starting to get low, that will make the recycle time longer.

Im betting if you charge your batterys, that will help improve the matter, but I dont think it will get rid of your annoyance factor.
You see, this is a fairly common problem with most digital cameras.... the camera needs to analyize the photo situation in a millisecond, if you just push the shutter button, and expect the camera to analyize:
a) how much light is in the scene
b) focus c) how much flash power should It use for the exposure
d) charge the flash capicitor before giving off a flash

all in the matter of a millisecond, you are expecting too much.
The secret to eliminating the delay you are speaking of is to
hold down the shutter button on your camera for a few seconds (letting the camera analyize the situation) and already have your trigger finger at the ready on the shutter button. Then when the photo opportunity presents itself, the camera has already done its analysis (providing you were holding the shutter button down partway without fully depressing it) and the delay between the time you "snap" or push the shutter button.... and the flash will be considerably faster!

Maybe new storage clip? We changed to a Nikon with 35mm format because of the same problem with our Olympus. What we shot was not necessarily what we got...some ended up downright funny...like knees or the floor of the boat...
