When someone says they 'met someone on the internet', which sites are they talking about? Chat rooms? Personals? Help much appreciated.

I've met someone through Yahoo answers :) I've also met a few people that I've got talking to on forums.
You'd have to ask the people who've said they've met someone online - I'd reckon it would be a 50/50 split between dating sites and forums/chat rooms.

It can be any of those places.There are specific sites for dating like Yahoo personals or match.com.But a lot of people meet in chatrooms and places like myspace and just find they get on well with someone they chat to

could be anywhere. If they are under 18, then it would most likely be chat rooms, or free sites. Adults who are really looking to find a partner usually use more specified dating sites like Lavalife.

it usually dating sites and chat rooms-i met a girl on the aol chat rooms - watch out though they are usually completely screwed up with more issues than the Beano

they could mean any of them --- my lady's ID was posted in a chat room and we talked on yahoo --- i must also add she did not post it --- her "friends" thought it would be a good joke --- so it was my good fortune and hers as well
