the clarity is better than my land-line, I can take my VoIP phone anywhere in the world with an high-speed connection and plug it in!

I got free activation, free shipping, 30 day free, 1 Uniden base-phone with build in router, and 1 extension phone....most of my friends and family are also have P8!

Well, I have had Vonage for about 2 years now.

It has its ups and downs, meaning, If I am on the internet and i get a phone call, sometimes it gets dropped mid conversation. Other times if I dont turn the internet off for the computers thru a software program , so that the computers cant use it while i am talking , again i either lose the phone call or it sounds very sqrambled.

So, as long as you can deal with the down sides, as I do, the price is unbeatable. The quality of the connection is very good as long as nothing else is using the internet.

I am a telephone tech, and even when I worked for the evil empire of Verizon I had VoIP. I have used Vonage, as well as Optimum Voice (local cable company's offering). It is much better then PSTN service. the cable network is better built then the telephone network, and therefore there are less problems on the outside wiring. There are no more crossed lines, no more static, or hum on the line (unless it is your phone or inside wiring).

Basicllay you need to check about the 911 features, you may need to activate them. They dont always go to a 911 operator, usuallay just a local emergency operator. Also my local cable company only allows me to get one line, other VoIP services allow you to get as many lines as you want. And the other downfall of ordering from a local cable provider is that the ATA is part of the modem, meaning if you travel, you can not bring your local phone with you as you can with another VoIP such as vonage, or packet 8, etc.

I've had OneTouchTone.com for nearly 2 years now. Clarity is excellent and it has been extremely reliable. They offer local numbers in many smaller towns than the majors like Vonage or AT&T.

It's better than I was expecting, to be honest.
