I would stick to the natural stuff in your pantry to soothe your throat, here is a FANTASTICA recipe to cleanse your system, soothe a sore throat, calm an upset stomach, and relax you after a stressful day.
Heat up water as if for tea (1 cup will be used per serving). Disolve 2 and a half tablespoons of honey in the water. Soak a lemon slice in the water for 5 minutes. If you don't like the taste *it is delicious anyway, but if you don't*, then add some mint leaves or cinnamon to it.
Good luck and congragulations with the baby!

Hot, strong tea with honey and lemon always works for me. The tannic acid in the tea soothes the raw tissues in your throat. I am prone to sore throats, so I find this the best option and keep lots of tea, honey, and lemon around in the winter.
When there is an irritation in the sinus passages, the fluid runs down the throat and irritates it. You might try a decongestant safe for pregnant women to stop this.

Sore throat during pregnancy is common although it depends from person to person..... and in your case maybe its due to some other causes.... You have not given detais about your other symptoms you may be experiencing that may have made your sore throat more irritating.... for example over vommiting, over restlessness which may also be the cause to not getting any relief for sleep. Cause sleepless night are also the cause of sore throat.... so just try to have a good nap and use some herbal tea or dry ginger powder with black pepper ..... it may ease your throat.....

You can gargle with lemon and water to try to get rid of the sore throat or mix equal parts of honey and fresh squeezed lemon with about 2 garlic cloves blended together and sip on it. It will get rid of your sore throat and help build your immune system.

1) Sleep with a humidifier running in your wedroom.
2) Also, you can gargle with warm salt water. Do not swallow, or it'll make you vomit!
3) You can also chew (it'll be bitter, so be warned) a zinc tablet. Take a mouthful of water & gargle, & then swallow. The zinc (natural infection fighter) will lodge in the back of your throat & help it heal quicker.
