I grew up in NY, and I have to say that the pizza has gradually changed over the years, and not for the better. At one time, any pizza place in the city could be a candidate for "best" honors. NY Magazine is run by a bunch of snotty kids from out of town, who really have no clue what this city used to be. The funniest thing about that is that when they declared Ray's as the best pizza in the city, half the pizza joints changed their name to "Rays", "Original Rays", or some variation. I would have to say that Manhattan pizza in particular has deteriorated to the point of being hopelessly generic. You'd have to go to the outer boroughs to find something that even remotely resembles the real thing.
My current favorite is Patricia's, 3764 E Tremont in the Bronx. They actually cook the pizza twice, once in a gas oven to quickly melt the cheese, and then in a wood fired brick oven to finish the crust. It's as close to "real" NY pizza as you can get these days.

People all over the country know the irresistable flavor of those big floppy foldable slices of NY Pizza from a local pizzeria. If you are not in NY, due to the unique qualities of NY water, even with the exact same ingredients and techniques these pies can not be emulated. However, if you crave the good stuff from miles away, as many understandably do, there are many choices to have a real NY Pizza delivered to your door. Now none of these options are cheap, but instead this plan is reserved for those who simply must immediately satisfy that NY Pizza craving.
Some options are: www.iwantnypizza.com, www.flyingpizzas.com, and www.sliceny.com. These are just a few, as there are many devotees of the NY Pie, there are also many purveyors ready to ship it for the right price.
Good Luck!

The best: DeFaro's in Brooklyn
Second best: Totonno's in Coney Island, Brooklyn
Lombardi's: the first pizzeria in the US - on Spring Street in Soho
Grimaldi's in Brooklyn
I doubt that any of them ship pizzas

I work in Portsmouth, Va with foreign navies. I was in Charleston, SC with a crew from Taiwan at the shipyard. They started out in Portsmouth so their mail went there. While we were in Charleston, the guys from my team in Portsmouth would FedEx the mail a few times a week to Charleston. I mentioned to one of the guys I sure missed my sausage link, egg and cheese on toast from the breakfast truck. One day I opened the Fed Ex box with the Taiwan mail and there was my sandwich! MMMM popped it into the microwave and enjoyed a taste from home!

The general consensus is that Gino's Italian Pizzeria is the best. It is expensive and they do ship - Frozen. You can find out more from their website, the internet or your local grocers.
