There has been criticism about my avatar. Why can't an individual support our troops but not our president? Do I have to support him just because he is the president?

I am glad that you support the troops.

Your avatar reminds me of Omar Abdel-Rahman, and I find that somewhat offensive, but it is your right to make your avatar whatever you wish.

when people say they support the troops and not the president, well this is just another way to try to divide the country and cause the down fall of the country the troops are fighting far. So no they are not supporting the troops.

Our form of government is based on open debate, and without it we have nothing to offer beyond what will be found with any dictatorship.
The real product of that debate is oversight of what our government does, which has been surely lacking during the first six years of this administration.
When people state that they are against the President or the war, chances are that opinion is a totally different thing to supporting our military. (damn, and I knew I should have baught Halaburton stock when Bush picked his running mate six years ago)
Besides being a Vietnam vet, my daughter is deployed to Iraq, and my grandson is stationed in Korea. So how much damn support do you want!!!!!!

The patriotic thing is to support our troops. This is a good thing. Supporting a president that ignores the facts and moves on his own pre-conceived notions is a disaster. So.... support our troops, but make it clear that our president has let our ideals and country down.

do you believe all this trash people are spreading about how you have to respect bush because he is the president?? i too support our troops for the simple reason being is that they are just doing there job.. i have talked to a couple of solders and marines who don't agree with our reasoning or the fact that we are there at all. but it is there duty to go where they are told and they do.
if people would stop and think...why not only send people over there who want to be there ... that would be a great way to stop the war if you think about it... the majority of the country doesn't agree with it just the blind and the ones who are to stupid to think for there selves

and having something bad to say about the president is our right as americans.

yes you can do that . you can do that not because you are in america but because you are in a free country.
supporting the troops can take many forms . writting letters to the govement asking them to improve armour is one way.
another is too ask that they troops be brought home if you do this because you dont wish to see any more killed or hurt then that is support.
you can choose to not support the president and you can protest his being president or his policies.
this is becase the usa is a free country and this is not unique to the usa.

From the freedom of your speech, I don’t think anyone could depend on your support even our troops. Our military men and women sign in to serve their country for what their believe in, even if it means go to war. The matter fact that, these men and women are call, “ Soldiers” someone who serves in an army. They have been trained for warfare. War usually starts when the conflict carried on between nations. Even though, we didn’t have any conflict with anyone, but some Middle East nations still wanted to destroy our nation. We used to, and be able to keep peace in the world. By gave money and gave something to the other nations that have a conflict with each other, so the world could stay in peace for a short times. We gave and we talked peace. There were no peace or no agreement anywhere. It just like a time bomb. It was there and ready to be ignited. That what we were doing, buy some of the times. It would never go away completely until it ignited. In this case, it is the nations in Middle East themselves. United States of America is a member of The United Nations and Alliance Coalition. We have an agree with the other nations. The agreement is to help these nations who also members, keep peace in their own countries. Even it means to send our soldiers to help them fight in their war. This has been going on for decades, it is not just happen with this Iraq war. Every country have to do the same. It is knowable for the world that US is the biggest supporter. You should be proud because we are extremely royalty to our friends. In the beginning we saw in the News that some of the UN members were the back stabbers to the agreement. Some small countries never can stand by themselves, if it has not been for Alliance Coalitions. Also this worldwide system and the commitment to humanitarian programs calls UN. Even though, we are the most powerful nation, we couldn’t stand out by ourselves as only one nation. It would be like you don’t want any neighbor and ignore what going on out there. Eventually, it would involve us no matter what. The example is Pear Harbor. September 11 is just a starting point.

Usually some nation would invaded the other nation, and then that nation would declared war. September 11 is someone launch an attack and assault. That was a beginning of hostilities and started warfare with the US. The US went on to find out, who is attack us or who is the support of these attack. You know about Bin laden and his planed. He planed to continue destroy more than the September 11. The US, also find out more of that, who was the biggest of Bin Laden supporters. You know Saddam Hussein and some Islamic countries are. Somehow the UN feel the threatening and was questionable to the massive destruction nuclear bombs. The hidden ideas of attacking the US, from Saddam and his followers. This include that he was a big supporter to Bin Laden. As the President of United States, George W. Bush knew that he have to do something about it.

He had his choices.
1. Having more peace talk, spending more money, buy peace from somewhere.
2. Ignore the September 11, wait here for the attack again. This way the US could hit back at who ever shot at us, if we could see our enemies, and who is the one that shooting us.
3. Sending the soldiers there to stop these Dictators and their next actions, so it could save our country and our people. We could have war and in the US right now between these country, thank God we didn’t. We still in peace here in US.

Some of our troops are still there. These men and women are taking the scarify to be there for us. They need our support. They leave their families behind. Thinking that maybe we would be a comfort to them and their families while they were going to the Battered. This country spit right in the middle with the politics believe. These soldiers and their families are only have 50% supporters. The biggest supporter for them is the president because he was the one who send them there. Our solders need all the support they could get. To let you know that, you and yourself need to fix it out that whose side you want to be on. This matter is not about the politics thing, even if you are a Bush hater. It is about protect your freedom, and peace in your own nation. Also a royalty of the agreements with the nations that we sign in to be the members with. War is necessary when it comes to our peace and our freedom of living and survives in this wicked world. It is a priceless that someone else willingly, and want to scarify their life for us. Your place is so simple with no life cost to you. Please don’t fell to be the part of stand up for our right. If you couldn’t say good thing about what the right thing to do, say nothing to destroy. After all, our Liberty is priceless, and our soldiers and their families are need our encouragement.

A lot of us support our troops and not our president. The results of the mid-term elections speak volumes.

Of course....The troops are doing their job...and very well indeed....the president on the other hand is in way over his head due partly to the greedy and corrupt views of his advisors.....definite conflict of interest going on...and sadly tons of good people are dying
