I'm 5'0", 180 lbs and ready to start losing weight. I want to hear from WOMEN who were around my size. How did you lose weight? What kind and how much exercise did you do? What did you eat and how often? How long did it take you to lose weight? What was your starting weight/how much did you lose?

I'm not in any rush, I'm not interested in starvation. I want to do this in a "lifestyle change" way, not just try to drop 20 lbs in a month. I'm willing to make changes like severely cutting down on fast food and snacking on junk food. I'm a single mom, so the exercise I'm capable of doing regularly is the treadmill, or the stairs (things I can do without leaving the house).

Thanks for the advice!

Eat less and exercise more. I really don't like to exercise but it really accelerates the weight loss - it is as simple as calories in and calories out. I journaled how much I ate and then how many calories I burned due to exercise and activities. I lost 20 lbs. in three months but I didn't starve myself and did enjoy my wine, beer and occasional dinners out. Here is a site on how many calories are in foods that you eat and how many calories that you burn based on activities http://www.caloriecontrol.org/index.html. Breakfast is really important - I ate cereal and fruit. Also I ate 5 small meals a day and never ate after 7:00 PM. I have a few friends that did weight watches with great results, I am just no into the group thing.
Good Luck and I am sure you can do it!!!

During the summer months, my two most basic Weight Watchers goals are to drink lots of water and to be as physically active as I can every day. The physical activity really helps burn the calories I consume, and drinking two or three glasses of water at mealtime really ease the digestion and help me to feel satisfied but not too full. Something that has really helped me managed my weight and reduced food intake is that I take time for my meals--really enjoy the food I've prepared (or at the restaurant). I'm also not much of a dessert person; normally I've had enough time to enjoy and fill up on the main course that I just have no desire for a treat afterward--at most fresh fruit slices to cleanse the pallette and/or a small piece of dark chocolate. The times in which I do like dessert are once a week when I go to a restaurant and savor a major fancy confection for 20-30 minutes following an appetizer (but not a meal/entree). There's tons more I could talk about, but for the sake of time, I will conclude with something I think is paramount to losing weight--eat your fresh fruits and veggies. When my diet is filled with fresh produce, lean proteins, lowfat dairy and whole grains, I've interestingly found that I'm not hungry between meals and therefore eat less overall (since July 2004 I've lost about 75 pounds, and it feels so good). So my basic pointers are, drink lots of water, incorporate physical activity into your daily routine, and eat a well-balanced diet centered around fresh fruits and vegetables. You'll be feeling great and ready to take on the world!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

First stop any sodas, if you drink them regularly, You'll see a change right there. Then add lots of fruits and veggies in place of carbs, and cut down your meat consumption. This is proven, and I've seen it first hand with many. For example, order salads with grilled chicken from the fast food joints, and drink lots of water flavored with lemon, it helps curb your appetite. Excercise, treadmill and stairs are good, but you need to get on the floor and do some stretching and say, leg lifts, sit ups as well. Everyone's metabolism is different, the key is building up your metabolism by keep moving. Good luck

well i am 5'4 and i was up to 177...and it was just to much, exercise didn't work for me, and the only way i ever lost weight before was not to eat, and i didn't want to do that, so i went and talked to my doctor, she said i was doing all the right things to lose weight, but it wasn't working, so she put me on a very low does of an appetite suppressant, and i and 158 at the moment, and i started taking it in November, and when i reach my goal weight i will take it less and less, i am so use to eating smaller portions now, its a Little bit of a boost that helped me along.

remove liquid calories (ex: soda, high fructose corn syrup "juices") from your diet. they are only extra calories that do not satisfy. Fiber One is a great cereal; it's a little sweet and very filling. Fiber One for breakfast with fruit or dannon light n fit yogurt (sweetened with splenda, so if you experience dizziness, bladder problems, or shakiness after consuming it, this is not a good idea) gives you a lot of fiber, sweetness to satisfy sugar cravings, and a pretty low calorie start to the day. a simple change in one meal at a time should work for you since you're willing to take the healthier, longer lasting gradual route.
good luck!

In college, I weighed about 130 lbs. standing 5'4". I wasn't fat but chunky. I lost weight by eating three small meals a day. I cut all fattening foods out and ate salads with low fat dressing, chicken breast and occasionally eggs. Yes, I did indulge every now and then but I made my diet my lifestyle. I also began walking regularly and exercising. I currently weigh 115 lbs.

I went to Jenny Craig. The food is really healthy. I exercise 5 days a week and drink 64 ounces of water a day. I have lost 25 pounds.

It seems that your sincerity and willingness is your key asset to success. Just do what is good for you and research information on your computer on the subject.

GOOD LUCK!
I wish I had your attitude about it. Maybe I could get rid of about 120 pounds of UN-NEEDED
FAT!

I am a big supporter of using the sugar substitutes like splenda and watching things like , cholesterol, trans fat, saturated fat's in my diet. That does not cause weight loss though.
