I have read so much about this subject. Ideally, I am looking for input from people who have had the surgery at least 5 years ago or more. Of course I would love to hear from anyone. Does anyone regret having the surgery?

Thank you. I will choose a best answer since you took the time to answer.

5 years ago, I had a similar surgery, without moving the intestine. It used the band, but it is not adjustable. I lost 95 pounds. If and when I eat too much, the food basically kind of sits in your throat. I however, have always had a very sluggish intestinal tract and I think had I had the bypass food would not have been absorbed and remained in my system as long as it did and continues to do. With all that said, I would do this again in a heart beat. I can do so much more than I could before. I feel better about myself and honestly I feel my personality has changed to be who I was always meant to be (outgoing, fun loving, etc). This surgery however does have some down sides. There is much sagging skin, I wish I could afford plastic surgery but cannot, so I am probably an extra size in clothes just to make up for the way clothes hang on a very saggy body. Now I understand why my grandmother liked moomoos. hahahha

I did it six months ago, and it's the best thing I could have ever done for myself. 87 pounds gone, and five sizes down! I had the laparoscopic gastric bypass, and I haven't regretted one minute or had any complications. I was in for two days at a facility that only does the surgery. (The Barix Clinic) Pray first, and then go for it.

Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
