Ok we need to seriously stop sterotyping people here. Not all Christians down athiest and pagans. A true Christian does not look at the misfortune of others or mock anyone. A true Christian loves all people and while we may pray that you come to know God and follow in Jesus we do not say horrible things about others as it is against our morals and is written in the bible. We true Christians are good people and I for one can not stand the things said about Christianity. The truth be told I do not go against anyone's beliefs and respect everyone for what they believe as long as they do not attack what we believe. I gurantee I will get some stupid and sensless answers to this but those of you who do not judge others will understand.

Sorry, but there are no "true" Christians. You're implying that a subset of those who call themselves Christians are really Christians. It doesn't work that way. You can't just pick and choose who represents the effects of Christian belief. It's all a package.

I agree that we shouldn't over-stereotype, but we also shouldn't just deny that Christians are good and bad about as much as other people. Yes, those that we stereotype the worst are just the extreme of Christianity. However, the moderate Christian implicitly supports the fringe. It is the nature of religion to cause intolerance for those outside of the religion. Even those religions that claim tolerance, only seem to do so to the extent that they think the person can be converted. After that, it changes from "love thy enemy" to "don't throw pearls before swine" or "don't be unequally yoked".

There was a study recently that showed that atheists were the least tolerated of the religious sectors. (I say religious sector, because it is not a religion, but is a category of religious belief) That study showed atheists to be less tolerated than Muslims or gays. At the same time, it showed atheists to be one of the most tolerant.

I think you miss the point. Not ALL Christians put down atheism and other religions, but many do in little ways, some don't even know it, because it's so ingrained. There are also many great Christians who are loving and accepting and respectful people. But when people say that Wicca is not a religion, that is absolutely wrong and just comes from not knowing the facts. It has it's roots in the same religious traditions of the three big ones, and are different branches.

Wicca teaches that there is good in all religions, truth to be found in each path, and each path, in the end reaches the same place. There is no, we're right, and they're wrong and they're going to go to .... wherever. We don't worship nature, we respect it, we don't worship the moon or the sun, we respect the powers that they represent.

Christianity is more based on paganism than most people realize. Christmas is Yule/Saturnalia, and other pagan solstice celebrations from the gift-giving, to the tree, to the death and resurrection, to the Sun God, changed into the Son of God. (Scholars know that Jesus wasn't born in December!) Easter is taken from Ostara, pagan festival, from the rabbit, the eggs, the maypole, etc. When the Christian Church went to the different lands, they absorbed the teachings and traditions of the pagans around them as a way to bring them into the fold.

Christians have to understand that not everybody accepts the Bible as the Word of God. That's fine for you. Great! Just don't expect others who don't to have your views to believe in it and accept your explanations. I believe it's a wonderful book with many good lessons, but that's it.

You say you don't attack another's beliefs, but by saying Wicca isn't a religion (it is recognized by the Federal Government as a recognized faith), you attack us and our beliefs. I was brought up in a Christian household, was a full-time minister. Then, I found the path for me, that I'd been looking for, and |I haven't been happier.

I agree with you. I get tired of all the bashing that goes on. Someone else asked pretty much the same question a couple of days ago. I don't bash. What upsets me most are those non-Christians that get angry because we have faith, and mock us. On the flip side of that there have been some over zealous Christians who get on their soap box and preach. I started here to answer and ask questions. Serious questions. I only answer those that really want to know here in R&S. I ignore the others. I simply want to help and learn. No one should judge another and yet so many do here. Thanks for the question!

You're going to get a lot of rude answers and thumbs down, but I appreciate what you are doing. Not too long ago, I asked why people have to be so rude and offensive in the religious section. Most people agreed with me, but some misinterpretted my intentions. But thank you so much for posting this! Happy New Year!

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

God Bless you, and be strong in the Lord, if you spend anytime on Yahoo. Christians get attacked here with verbal abuse, it is sickening. My history teacher used to have a saying, "you are enough to make a preacher swear". That is what some of the fools on this site can do to you. So God Bless and hope you can stay fresh and lovely.

Like all religions, and in fact, all beliefs, their are extremists who take their views to stupid, hateful levels. Sadly, we all suffer from their inane ramblings and "I'm better than you" attitude. Also, their are some people who just love to cause trouble, and criticize or mock everything and everyone. I personally don't believe in God, but I respect every person's freedom to do so.

If you don't do those things you are not the typical Christian. Very true Christians exost. True Christians follow the bible and are baptized, most of these people do not believe in baptism, so therfore are not true Christians.

You expect us to sit back and not hold those responsible for being ignorant? I think not.
