I am losing my faith & need to be reassured that human beings are not the worst species on the planet. Thinking back on the story of Sodom and Gommorah, I wonder if I would be able to find 10 truly good people in today's day and time.
TRULY good... not hypocrites who:

- Go to church on Sunday, then, literally, and while still dressed in Sunday clothes, step on and shove someone at a restaurant
- Hate me because I'm the wrong color or religion
- Do nice things for their friends, but condemn people not in their circle
- Claim to be good people, but never go to church because they don't sin "that much"
- Drive away from church, then yell and flip off some driver on the road

- Claim to love everyone, but don't even give the time of day to someone who's homeless, gay, catholic, hindu, black, white, etc.
- Preach forgiveness, then hold grudges their entire lifetime
- Say they're good parents, but then buy their kids out of trouble when they do something wrong or insist it's "not MY kid! Oh no, MY kid is an honor student and would NEVER do that, officer!"

Yes, God-willing you can find them, and I'm sure you can find more than just 10. Admittedly, humanity has sunk to a level unprecedented, but in the midst of this chaotic world, there still exists kindness and compassion among the believers of God.

Muslims believe that the end of time wont come until there exists not even a single man or woman who believes in God, enjoin the good and forbid the wrong. Surely, there are still quite a number of righteous believers. You can be one of them.

God knows best.

Peace and Love.

Could you find them? Yes.

I have been privileged to know a great many who match your description perfectly. I hope to be counted among them. In fact, in prophecy of our time, Revelation 7:9 says: "After these things, I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, and there were palm branches in their hands." Read the rest of that chapter for yourself, and you will see that these are people who live through the "great tribulation" which will take place at the end of this system of things (of which we're in the last days now).

But, as someone here pointed out already, the world as a whole is much like Sodom and Gomorrah. And that means that although there would be more than 10 truly good people . . . although they are "a great crowd which no man was able to number," the world (the world of wicked humans - not the planet. Psalms promises that the earth itself will endure forever) will still be destroyed. But will all of those truly good people be destroyed with it? No.

Proverbs 2:21 "For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it."
(Psalms 37:9-11, 29, 34, 37, 38; Revalation 21:3,4)

The good news is - yes, there are good people. I am blessed to have a decent family. That should give you at least 10!

The bad news is - if you read about Sodom and Gomorrah - you would realize how chilling the awful truth is! The world really has become a kind of Sodom and Gomorrah. I think, if a Sodomite were alive today, he would fit right in - and probably party with the gay church activists!

Also, the world's morality has been turned on its head! Right is considered wrong. Wrong has become the accepted norm. People look and behave like they belong in the adult entertainment industry. Children are brought up by a degenerate media that brainwashes them. Adults treat products with more respect than they would treat humans!

Yes, I have lost faith. But if you still have faith, please pray for me. Bless you.

I am sure there are more than 10 good people.

People whose hearts are pure.
People that care more about others than they do themselves.
People that stand up for what is right when it is not popular.
People that have a burden for those who are burdened.
People whose God is not money.
People that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

I know a bunch of really stand-up people.
I know of more than a dozen in my Sunday School Class.

We just lost one this last week, he was a common guy who would do anything to help anybody, and worked hard in the church. His death was a real loss, and he left a wonderful wife.
One of these really stand-up couples have stepped in and have become a comfort for her.

I am sure that there are many good people in this world as well
as the others. The trouble is to tell which is which. Some people
are very good, until money gets involved. It is just a handfull of
bad people that stand out and give everybody a bad name.
Of course it can depend on what your defination of good and
bad is. A fellow that blows himself up to kill others to gain
financial aid for his family and get a shot at 72 virgins when he
gets to heaven, thinks he is doing the right thing.
Some people think that they are good, because they claim to
be a Christian.

yes you will i dare to think if you stop focusing on the "stumbling blocks." I can think of Billy Graham and his immediate family. John Stott; J.I. Packer; a Christian Ed. teacher named Ma'am Makapili (a truly selfless woman); my Greek professor, Dr. Newton; a quadroplegic New Testament lecturer named Amanda Shao Tan (a truly corageous but gentle woman); and all those Christians laboring in foreign mission feilds enduring hunger, deprovations, persecution and loneliness in the service ofGod and others... why there are so mnay? Are they perfect? Of course not! Even the apostle Paul confessed that he was not perfect. Neither am I and neither are you. Watch for the GOOD in people and you will find it. Watch for the bad and you will also find it.

i think we still have abouve the minimum number of 144,ooo
there are more than we could know
but know-no-one is can be a saint all the time.
we need our compassion to be stirred up, it needs constant vigelence ,[some would say eternal vigillence]
fall down on a road as jesus did
he saw hios priest and the judge sneak past
that must of hurt
but a [lousy ,enimy ,sworn ennimy alone shewed him [his sworn enimy ] kindness
we have been witness even amoungst the animals of acts of kindness ,i recall a hippo resquing some baby animal from crocks ,even a wild cat that protected unbelievably a baby monkey[god in his kindness gave these filmed records to man to give mankind heart
but you get more than ten responces ,that arnt hypocritical of your question nor your human need to recieve comfort aND REASSURANCE
sorry about the caps
if i correct it it eats up the words
see the character change a simple key stroke alone can make
now im angry
bad mouthing my own acts but blaming a silly key ,
dont[never]judge a friend if they expose thier own spiritual naked ness its omly tasting the thought[ or more frequetly repeating a taunt] they them selves felt in its full pain ,the carless word a silent protest they hope corrected [in hope] but vainly held hope
to forgive is devine

In the way that man views goodness there are many good people who are also bad people. Consider someone who is a hero and saves people who are in a fire could also be the man who robs a bank as humans we are never absolute. One mans good man can be anothers bad man.In the eyes of God we are none good because any sin makes us imperfect.

LadyJag,

Often when the battle is intense, we may feel like we are the only one that still is serving the LORD. Elisha felt this way.

1 Kings 19

10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

When the storms come, do not tell God how big the storm is....tell the storm how big your GOD is....HE still can calm the storms. (but most of the time, God will calm the child in the midst of the storm)
