I don't mind answering that question because I think you're asking something honest. Thanks for the chance!
First of all, the only time I've killed a dog was when it was coming after me during an operation. It used to chase our vehicles, anyway but on this one early morning, it came directly for me.
American soldiers do not make it a habit of killing innocent people. If they do, they are held accountable and prosecuted to the max extent of the law. There are times when innocent people are killed by accident but we do everything we can to save them and when that's not possible, we compensate as best we can the family.
Let me make one more point. I have personally helped a family in Iraq get asylum in another country so that they would be safe because they helped us. They didn't fear the US military. They feared the Shia militia. They know that we are here to help and are very open to us. You just don't see that in the media because it isn't cool.
Thanks, again!

You hear all kinds of things on the Internet. That's what is creating all the hatred.
The answer is no. There were dogs at the checkpoint I went to everyday to bring Iraqi laborers and trucks in. If a soldier had shot one of them, he would have been in a lot of trouble.
There were strict rules of engagement. Most of the Iraqis were very friendly and hospitable. Why would anyone want to shoot them? We worked very well with the Iraqis. I still keep in touch over the Internet.
There have been incidents where soldiers have committed crimes like murdering unarmed civilians. I am not talking about accidental killing. I am referring to murder. These people need to be punished. Otherwise, we are no different than Saddam.

No those are false . If a dog attacks an American soldier or Marine , of course he may kill it . I've never even heard of my soldiers killing animals for no reason though . Soldiers do kill people , but not without reason . If someone tries to attack a soldier , they have to defend themselves . We don't just go around killing people , the insurgents do that .
I hope this helps you understand that we are not out trying to kill everyone. We are just normal people and being soldiers and marines is our job . I feel no anger toward you , and am glad to try to answer any question that is asked seriously .

Let's see if you have ever heard this..........
"NEVER BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE"
Are you from America? If you are, you should know that we are not a third world country! We probably protect the rights of animals MORE than any other country. Excluding UK.
I highly doubt that because these soldiers are in a foreign country that they have lost all of their values.
The very fact that you ask the question is rude. However, that is why the American military is there, it is to protect freedom of speech and the right to the pursuit of happiness NOT JUST FOR AMERICANS.
This answer is not a hater! Hopefully it is an en-lightener!
NOT A SOLDIER
P.S. Every country in the world has bad apples somewhere.!
P.S.S. Have you ever heard of ASPCA, SPCA,HUMANE SOCIETY.........ANIMAL PLANET AND ANIMAL COPS, just to name a few?

There is nothing pretty about war. There may be actions that you may not accept, but keep in mind, war means that hatred flourishes and death abounds. Ask your friend the history of innocent killing before troops ever arrived in Iraq. Ask them to give you an account of the number of women and children that have lost their lives for no reason other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And I'm not throwing my anger at you. I do hope you find the answers your looking for.

I've been to Iraq, and as far as the last question, that is just crazy. Have people did stupid, uneblievable things like that? Yes, but they are now facing MURDER charges. Just because you are at war with a country doesn't mean you can do what you want. There are laws in combat defined by the Gineva Convention. As far as killing animals such as dogs... yes. That happens. We have to make our bases safe, and wild dogs running around them puts our soldiers lives in danger. They carry diseases and such that hinder what we are trying to do there.

You've heard wrong. VERY wrong. I haven't had to go to Iraq myself, but many of my friends have, and they have had NO orders to kill animals (except for one rabid dog), and NO orders to kill innocent civilians, unless the civilians seem to pose a threat.
I've talked to too many soldiers to possibly believe one word of that.

There are incidents where animals are shot, because they create a health hazzard . Some sites that are away from cities keep dogs to alert them of people or bad guys coming near them. There are some soldiers who among theirselves not the military commit crimes and they are caught and punished.

Visit this website and find lots of blogs directly from the soldiers, marines and others in Iraq. My son is in Iraq and has been there for almost a year. He tells us not to even bother listening to the news, because it is so blown out of proportion.

No, the Iraqi government should not be prosecuting him. he's a member of a soveriegn usa, and he replaced into appearing as an agent of that government whilst he committed the crime. It replaced right into a heinous crime, and he would be tried - yet by employing OUR protection rigidity regulations. And as for the U.S. protection rigidity being held responsible, the protection rigidity is crammed with human beings - no longer robots. as long as human beings are filling those boots, you will get good and undesirable apples - in simple terms like in any employer. i will attest that the protection rigidity is going via large lengths to reveal, practice, and supervise their troops -some situations to the factor the place this is a shackle protecting us from getting the job finished.
