As a "fundie' who takes the Bible literally, I do take the whole Bible, not selected feel good portions-that's Joel osteen. That includes the part in Romans 8 that says that we are no longer bound by the Mosaic Law, as Christ has fulfilled the Law's requirements. As the 1st answerer said, the law concerning the Sabbath day was not mentioned in the New Testament. We worship on Sunday in respect of Christ's resurrection on Sunday morning.

Good question. But Sunday is not really the Sabbath that the Bible refers to, Saturday is, that is the day the Jews honor (see your calendar, isn't Saturday the Seventh day?) Chrisitans don't honor that day because a long time ago either the catholic or early Christian church changed it to Sunday because that was the Pagan day of the Sun god and it would help get converts if pagans and Christians had something like worshipping on the same day in common. They used the excuse that Jesus rose on a Sunday, and this has gone on ever since, but there are some Christians who actually worship on Saturday. Like Seventh Day Adventists and Seventh Day Baptists, and a few others, most likely. They usually rest on Sabbath.

We should use caution when taking the bible literally, as it was translated and edited by the religious leaders. Many gospels and books were not allowed to be included. Christ spoke in parables such to make it difficult for some of his most important teachings not to be changed and only to be understood by those in which the veil was removed or being removed. As far as Sunday's go, today's religion seems to somewhat take a smorgasboard approach, and it seems as though a church member is guided by the beliefs of its pastor, minister, rabi, etc., regarding what to choose from the board.

Most Christians I would doubt can say they take the Bible literally, as they believe that Heaven is after death and that it is somehwere else although Christ told us the truth when he said, "Behold, Heaven Is A Hand".

This is the Garden and the Gift from the creator for his son's and daughters who are really eternal spriitual beings having a human physical experience in heaven. The human mind controlled by the ego, does not allow one to know who they really are and where they really are.

We are all the prodigal son trying to find our way back home. It is not until one truly suffers do they even begin the search. And home is here. When the son returned, where was he? He was at the same place he started, was he not?

It is like most are looking through a foggy pair of glasses.

i don't claim to know anything about this stuff but i was only recently reading a part of the bible where jesus healed on the sabbath. Some bloke had a gammy hand and was asking jesus to fix it for him & believed that he would. All these dudes in the temple were waiting to see if he would do it because he wasn't supposed to on this day etc. He healed the guys hand and said something about doing good, doing the lords work on any day being ok. Obviously it was worded far more eloquently than I've said it but that was the idea I got from it. So.. according to that, perhaps it's ok to work if you are not doing it for personal gain? Effed if i really know but i guessed that's the rules from what i read.

The Israelites were not to work on Saturday. The Old Testament has been "nailed to the cross" it was no longer to be our guide after the ascension of JESUS CHRIST. HE began the New Church which is led by the New Law or New TEstament. We meet on the Lord's Day (Sunday) to worship the FATHER. Have a great week.

I am a fundamentalist and I work on Sunday a little bit - I work out of my home. I don't think God condemns me for it. I go to church and worship him throughout the week also - not just on Sunday. Another thing - I'm under the grace of Jesus Christ - now the law. Jesus Christ is my Redeemer and Friend - He knows what I have need of and he meets my every need. Blessings.

Keeping the Sabbath is an OT commandment under Jewish law. Christians believe the OT but don't live under that law. Jesus, set us free from all those OT laws. Anyway, Christians worship God everyday and everywhere not just Sunday.

The sabbath is on Saturday by the way. It is OK to work any day - the principal is to have a break every seven days. Greed will make people work 7 days a week and it is unhealthy for family life as well.

The sabbath was to occur on Friday at sundown...... That was Saturday and it was the sabbath day......

However, because Christ died, and was resurrected the third day, it fell on Sunday.....

It was because He was the Lord of the Sabbath and had mastered death........

To Christians, this signified the fulfillment of a New Covenant in which there was to be a New Sabbath.......that being the day Christ rose from death...... Sunday......

It was a disgrace for a Jew to hang on the sabbath day on a stake, and so they took him down.... But, on the third day, he rose... so, new covenant.... new testament.... new sabbath....

I still think it is Saturday......
