Is there historical and scientific proof of Jesus?

It is interesting that when people seek historic and scientific proof of Jesus, they immediately discount the Bible as a reliable source.

If we look at the Bible simply as a historic document, it should be among the most reliable on record compared with others.

Historians routinely cite Herodotus as a key source of information. He wrote from 488 B.C. to 428 B.C. and the earliest copy of his work comes from 900 A.D. (1,300 years later). There are only eight known copies of his work.

By contrast, the New Testament of the Bible (with all its information about Jesus) was written between 40 A.D. and 100 A.D. The earliest known copy is from 130 A.D. and there are 5,000 known copies in Greek, 10,000 in Latin and 9,300 in other languages.

Still, to put to rest the notion that there is no historic and scientific proof of Jesus outside the Bible, we may look to Jewish historian Flavius Josephus and to Roman historian Carius Cornelius Tacitus - both well known and accepted.

Josephus, in the book Jewish Antiquities" wrote:

"At that time lived Jesus, a wise man, if he may be called a man; for he performed many wonderful works. He was a teacher of such men as received the truth with pleasure. . . .And when Pilate, at the instigation of the chief men among us, had condemned him to the cross, they who before had conceived an affection for him did not cease to adhere to him. For on the third day he appeared to them alive again, the divine prophets having foretold these and many other wonderful things concerning him. And the sect of the Christians, so called from him, subsists at this time" (Antiquities, Book 18, Chapter 3, Section 1).

Tacitus, in writing about accusations that Nero burned the city of Rome and blamed it on Christians, said the following:

". . .Nero procured others to be accused, and inflicted exquisite punishment upon those people, who were in abhorrence for their crimes, and were commonly known by the name of Christians. They had their denomination from Christus (Christ, dm.), who in the reign of Tibertius was put to death as a criminal by the procurator Pontius Pilate. . . .At first they were only apprehended who confessed themselves of that sect; afterwards a vast multitude discovered by them, all of which were condemned, not so much for the crime of burning the city, as for their enmity to mankind. . . ." (Tacitus, Annals, 15, 44).

I think Jesus was a great man and a great prophet, and if the Bible is accurate, obviously a great magician, a highly evolved soul.

I am not a Christian, however. I don't believe he is the Son of God anymore or less than anyone else. I am pagan, believing in a Universal Force that can manifest in many ways. This is what we are made of, all of us are divine, all of us are connected to the divine all the time. We don't need an intermediary. Even Jesus said that. He said we would do even greater things than he.

I believe in the power of nature and the cosmos, which many cultures have called by many names, and each one of those names has power, whether it's God, Jesus, Jehovah, Isis, Ishtar, Yemaya, Cernunnos, or any of the other gods that have been worshiped.

Yes they are real. I am so glad. Jesus the precious Son of God died on the cross for the sins of the world. There is so much sin in the world, and always has been, but now it is getting worse. God did create hell for the devil and his angels, not for human beings, but disobiedent people will go there. That is why he sent he precious Son Jesus in the world as a sacrafice so whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. The bible says that those who do not believe stands condemmed already. Sin deserves to be punished. Just like a murderer, he gets his jail sentence. And that is justice. If God was not full of justice, he would not be God. Yes God is loving, but he is also very just, in his judgement. Do not take the risk, about going to hell, ask Jesus to show you that he is real, he will come into your heart and if you ask for forgivness for all your sins, you have to repent, and Jesus will forgive you and wash you clean by his blood. It is that simple. Do not take the other way, and that is the way of the world, and that is sin to the max. Jesus wants you to have a relationship with him, do not reject him as the pagans do. He is very real, I have seen him a dream back in June of 2005. He looks nothing like you imagine. I can tell you, he is gergous. When he appered to me, I did not expect it. My mother has also seen him. A few months ago she was reading the bible and had trouble understanding some of the meaning to a bible verse. She prayed to God that night before she went to bed and asked Jesus to help her understand it. Jesus appeared to her that night to write down the meaning. She discribed him the same as I saw him. Jesus has a very young looking face, and it was bright, and his eyes were pearcing, it was like he is looking though you instead of at you. Yes he is very real, more real then you or I. I hope that helps. Please ask God to help you see the truth, and tell him you are searching. Jesus said ask, seek and knock and the door will be open unto you. God bless, and I hope and pray you find the truth so you can be set free. If you have a bible, read the new testament of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, as it talks about the life and ministry of Jesus.

Yes, I think they are real. I have seen the change in peoples lives when Jesus has intervened in their lives. I have never seen anyone made better by goblins or fairies. Things that are phoney do not stand the test of time, they die out. People do not willing die for fairy tales.

Are you sitting on a chair? Are you sitting in a building? Are you sitting in front of a computer? How did they get there? Were they planned? built? programmed? arranged?

How do you know?

How can you be sure?

How can you be certain that the components of your computer did not slowly and over a long period of time form and program themselves?

Is the universe more or less complex than your computer, your house, your chair?

Which would be more of a fairytale:

a) a jumble of plastic and metallic mass, activated by a jolt of electricity from an unknown source, arranged itself into a hard drive, modem, sound card, video card, keyboard, speakers, internet connection, etc.

b) a computer tech put together the working components of your computer and hooked it up to a server.

Isn't the computer itself evidence of the tech? evidence of computer engineers and programmers?

So, how is it again that the universe, astronomically more complex than ANYTHING man made, is NOT evidence of an intelligent designer?

Do I believe in God? Yes.

Romans 1:19-23 "...because what may be known about God is manifest among them, for God made it manifest to them. For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable; because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their unintelligent heart became darkened. Although asserting they were wise, they became foolish and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed creatures and creeping things."

I believe that a *man* named Jesus walked the earth at one time, but in no way do I believe he was the son of any god. I believe it's impossible to prove the existence of any god, but if pressed for a 'yes' or 'no' answer to the question of God's existence, I'd have to answer 'no'.

In the name of Jesus, people have pulled off -- and are continuing to pull off -- the greatest "Punk'd" of all time.

God and His son Jesus Christ are true, living members of the Godhead. They are the organizers of this world and many others. They are our divine leaders and if you will ask in faith, having a sincere heart you can answer this question for yourself.
