Bonjour!
In England there are two types of television channel: terrestrial and extraterrestrial.
The terrestrial channels are free, whereas the digital channels are not. There are five basic free channels (BBC1 [British Broadcasting Company One], BBC2, ITV1, C4 and five), which can be received just about anywhere in England. BBC1 is predominantly factual, documentaries and the news. BBC2 is usually comedy and light-hearted programmes. ITV1 a different company to the BBC (The Beeb), and thus has programmes of the same genre, but all together. C4 is again a different company, and runs its own selection of shows. five is the same as C4, although C4 usually shows reality television series, like, to the horror of the British public, a live autopsy by a German doctor; and Big Brother.
Extraterrestrial television contains as many as 700 extra channels. They range from news to sport; documentaries to quiz shows; comedy channels to film channels. Companies such as the BBC own extraterrestrial channels, such as BBC3, BBC4, BBC News 24, BBC Sport, CBBC (Children's British. . .), CBeebies (a channel for 0-5 year olds approx.). ITV also has its own extraterrestrial channels: ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITV News and ITV Sport.
There are different types of extraterrestrial companies, the biggest being Sky and NTL. They also have their own channels, reserved for their subscribers.
Channel 4 has extraterrestrial channels: E4 and More4.
five has the recently launched five life and five US. (A channel for all the programmes aired from the United States.)
Furthermore, there is a system where a "box" can be bought for approx. £30-70 (€50-100) which can receive approx. 40 extraterrestrial channels for free. This is called "Freeview".
The television companies are rivals and will always try to beat others in the ratings for programmes thought to be a hit with the public.
As I don't watch a lot of television and I've gone through this really quickly, I may be missing a few important facts, but it should be all you need to know. If you do need anything else or more detail, you can email me on my profile. I hope that wasn't too much information!
.
You said that you wanted help on your English: I though that I'd just say that in your sentence "I want to reply on this questions :", "this" should be "these", as it is the plural form, and you are looking for answers to more than one question. I think that when you say "What are the third channels/programs most watched ?", you need to use "three", not "third", as it is referring to more than one channel, three. When "third" is used, it refers to the "troisième". (I can't think of any other way to explain it!)
Don't worry, though; you have good English, which is better than a lot of the native English people, as many can't be bothered to speak it properly.
Bonne Année !

I have cheated and looked at some of the answers before writing this. One of your correspondents is very scathing about the content of out terrestrial channels. To try and put it right I add the following:
BBC 1 is an advert free channel which broadcasts a wide range of programmes ranging from wildlife documentaries to comedy series and news-based programmes. In fact all of the comedy programmes now being shown on the cable and satellite channels originated on BBC.
BBC 2 is also an advert free channel broadcasting in-depth programmes aimed at a very wide audience. It probably wouldn't be appealing to teenagers or viewers of a non-serious character.
ITV 1 has adverts but also produces some excellent programmes both light entertainment and serious public information.
Channel 4 produces programmes which can be likened to the difference between the popular press and the more serious newspapers and again has adverts.
Channel 5 is sometimes the equivalent of the gutter press and thrives on sensationalism and semi-pornography to titillate its audience. Commercial breaks tend to be longer on 5 and last about 4 minutes.
I hope I haven't put you off British television for life it is like the curate's egg "good in parts"

don't listen to the idiots here. You are asking what the THIRD most channels and programs watched? Strange question most people would want to know the FIRST MOST channels/programs watched. BBC1 would probably be the most channel watched then its probably channel4.
terrestrial channels are: bbc1, bbc2, itv, channel4 and channel5.
However British TV is about to go DIGITAL in a couple of years which means a better reception and more channels for example the BBC will broadcast ,more channels which are bbc3, bbc4, bbcnews24, bbcparliament, cbbc and cbeebies. All these can be viewed if you buy a freeview box or new digital television or if you have satellite or cable capabilities.
The world of TV is changing, theres more channels and less people will be watching just one channel, which could be bad for the quality of programmes.

Hi I will give it a shot, if I have misunderstood your question drop me a line via my link. The third channel I presume you mean I.T.V.1, I personally never watch it apart from the occasional film, ITV is basically there for the lowbrow's of our country. a typical schedule would be along the lines of, soap opera, a drama, a soap opera then a short break for some news (celebrity gossip and sport) then one of those alleged reality shows, you get the general drift, and at weekends things really go down the toilet. Saying that Micheal Grade has been recruited to try and reverse ITV's plummeting audience share, so who knows what the future holds.
have a look at this to get some actual data.
