Many well persons don't understand the physical - let alone the emotional and psychological - changes and impact of chronic and debilitating illness. It is very normal to experience "death would be better" thoughts AND to NOT feel suicidal with these thoughts.

Many times others believe there is depression or suicidal ideation behind this thinking. Instead, ill persons often feel an acceptance---even when death is not likely to occur anytime soon from the chronic illness.

So I do understand your comments. However, it is up to each person to know their own psychological state and to seek help if needed. If you are experiencing depression, this is VERY normal after open heart surgery. Depression is also very normal with diseases that must be attended to every day, day in and day out, like diabetes. If you are feeling sad, angry, frustrated with your situation, talking with others who understand or getting antidepressant medications may help you with depression.

Remember that others may be concerned when you make statements about death. Reassure them of your true feelings and thoughts. Try to educate others about what a life of illness does to a person little by little every day.

It sounds like you truly love your life and love living -- but just wish it was not a life of disability and pain? I do hope this year brings some reprieve for you from having to deal with so many medical problems!

Thinking of you,
Lifes

You actually have a better attitude than most...although you also sound like you are just tired of the health problems you are having. I don't believe you are suicidal, at least I hope not...everyday is precious, and I don't know what you have to offer others, but I bet they would be terribly sad if you weren't here any more...Death means that you couldn't even come here to Answers, and ask this question, and all you would be is a memory, and a sad loss to others....I am sure there are others worse off than you, but I am sorry you feel so bad...Try to find out what you can get interested in,...to compensate for those tired, downtrodden feelings....Pray to Our Father, through Jesus and have a Happy New Year..and give thanks for being alive..

Ten years is a good number of time to do something along with your existence. you stay in this boundless universe on between the most desirable planets contained in the Milky way and also you imagine you've a bland existence. What might want to it take so that you'll savor the staggering global round you? What do you want---2 universes? One isn't strong sufficient for you? you do not stay a "bland existence." if you're bored this is because you're dull. Why do human beings imagine existence is an adventure, interesting, interesting, with no end in sight desirable? They stay interior a similar global you do. you're literally not the really human being i have heard of it truly is so boring they "stay a bland existence." If there is an afterlife, you'll locate that existence both "unnecessary" and "bland" because you'll nevertheless see the universe with a unnecessary and bland thoughts-set.
