In the opening chapter of Genesis, GOD describes the creation. Read it here...Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them

In the second chapter, HE describes the construction of man and the Garden of Eden where man was to live. Read it here... Genesis 2: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

We were formed by HIM from the dust of the earth. NO SPECIAL MATERIALS were needed. Man is made from common materials that are available on the earth. We are special because we have a soul, as GOD has. That sould makes us similar to HIM. HE is the creator and we are the created. Adam and Eve needed no "twins" nor were they given any from this reading. Our GOD is AWESOME!! Have a great week.

Some say it is true......

They account for both a 6th day man and a 7th day man.....

The sixth day man was called "created"..... (Genesis 1:27)

the seventh day man was called "formed"......... (Genesis 2:7)

The created man was told to be fruitful and multiply...... but the formed man was placed in the garden of Eden to till it.........

The problem is that there is a re-telling, if you will, of the events as they occurred...... (Genesis 2:4)

The term, "before it was watered" is when the formed man is brought into His story........

Yet, I have found nothing to coincide with the two man theory.....

It is also how they accounted for Cain meeting his wife, (not sister), in the Land of Nod, East of Eden...... because the created ones were multiplying......

Shalom Adonis,

Indeed the genesis speaks of two distinctive births, the first being the birth of the soul which is God's image and the second being the earthly body. And the soul just like its creator has no gender hence the man and woman names being together.

That is a very good observation. But, the answer is no. You see, first he created them in his image, which was in spirit form. Then he formed them a body from the ground. We are all human made from the same stuff as the dirt. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. But we also have a spirit. When God says he created us in his image he is speaking of our spiritual selves. Not our human bodies.

Chapter two was just explaining in more detail how he created them, step by step. Personally, I would have loved more detail - how the earth's elements that have been found in the human body were formed into flesh, blood, and bone, etc. But then again, this has given scientists far more to explore.

Good for asking. It is very important to ask these sort of questions.
I don't think there was a "second set". The incident in with the tree of knowledge of good and evil only makes sense if there was one pair, but that doesn't necessarily mean there weren't other people in the garden at the time.

The bible's edited badly; two versions of the creation myth made it into the final cut, probably because the editors didn't know which one to leave out.
