It depends on the father AND the son.
If a son admires his father he will emulate him. If he doesn't he'll be opposite of what his father is.
Sometimes, though, a child who has been abused will grow up to be an abuser not because he admired the abusive behavior but because he admired the power he knew his father had while he felt so powerless.

Yes and no. I'm like him in some ways but in others, we're worlds apart. And likewise with my son, we share some common things and differ on others. And the same applied for my father and his dad (my grandfather). I guess it's because we've all explored our own identities and been allowed to do so.

Sometimes, not always. For example, if a guy's father has been in jail, then there's something like a 20% chance that he'll go to jail, but that means there's an 80% chance that he won't.

Sometimes. My oldest son used to be just like his father and still has the majority of his traits, habits, and ideals. My youngest two are nothing like him at all.

I like my father and I think if you ask him, he likes his son.

My son takes after his mother.
It is part genetics and part the nurturing environment that you grew up with. There are numerous factors that influence how a person turns out.

Hi my name is Mike and in my opinion not always for example I idolized my mom but in some ways I wanted to be like my dad. I guess it really depends on their relationship. Hope this helped. Mike S. Ark.

Sometimes that's true but sometimes its not. It takes alot of mom and dad to make up their children. Sure some traits will shine brighter than others.
