There are veges and fruit and the other food groups on the diet as well but 'meat' is predominant.

The Blood type diet was co-founded by Dr Adamo a naturopath that defined the blood types by how their blood responded to food lectins.I think The blood group diet has allot of credible information but it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.Blood type is only one factor that pinpoints our genetic blue print the other is metabolic type, activity level, ancestry, weight, age etc.A good whole foods diet tailored by your own metabolic needs is best. The blood type diet is a good theory and the book has many compelling pieces of wisdom and information, its a valuable tool for health but not a defining rule.We are now seeing that the general dietary advice does not work for everyone,we are individuals and really need to listen to the wisdom within our own bodies.

The scientific basis of the diet is poor. O+ may not be the oldest blood type, and even if it is D'Adamo doesn't convincely show that early humans would have eaten large amounts of meat (catching animals was hard, and they would also have got through good amounts of fruit, veg etc - though the proportions are disputed). Also, the meat they ate would have been very different from the commercially farmed meat we eat today - closer to the wild game you can buy today than farmed meat, so the meat eaten by early humans would mostly have been pretty lean.
D'Adamo not only fails to construct a convincing argument re. what humans would have ate while certain blood types evolved. He also fails to offer any properly organised clinical trials to show that his diet works. Even if our ancestors with certain blood types ate certain things does not mean that we should.
The best bet is just to eat a 'normal' healthy diet, and do regular exercise. If you want to eat lots of meat, try to eat relatively lean meat - so you're not taking in too much saturated fat...

I don't think this would work, this sounds like a very redicules fad diet. A diet needs to be balanced and based on eating habits you can use in your every day life. That means following the food piramid, did everyone forget it was there? You need to have lots of fruits and veggies, grains, some meat and milk products. A diet based on meat is very bad for your body, you are not a lion.

Several years ago I checked into the blood group diet, and according to my particular blood type, i was told I should eat very little meat and lots of legumes & beans.
I don't think it's a credible science because when I tried thier recommended diet, I felt lousy. I feel best when I just stick to lower fat meat, with plenty of fresh fruit & veggies.

NO diet works, period. NO diet. You have to change your lifestyle and exercise. Sure you can lose 20 lbs. by "dieting" but you will gain 30 back until you learn HOW to eat and change your eating habits.
