the best thing is not to show you are affected. make a joke out of it. some people are just rude and bossy and bullies. but if you play it as something funny, that will make them think you may be making fun of them but not sure about it.... so they just look at you and wonder what you mean. sometimes that rude person ends up smiling at your comments or his friends may laugh and that makes light of everything.
most kids in school who are picked on become a class clown and everyone ends up liking them because he is funny and looks unafraid (although it is a defence mechanism). who cares as long as you look good to others and only you know how you feel inside.
when someone tell you to go to hell, you can say, o.k., i'll see you there. and then laugh. anything that makes it all lighhearted and seems as if you are taking the whole thing lightly. be an actor or actress and pretend.

Perhaps they are having a bad day themselves,
I think that if I've done nothing wrong then I should not be too concerned.
If it's someone in a shop, ie cashier I'd tell them that manners cost nothing,
However if it was a relative or friend, I'd leave them alone for a while, and wait for them to apologise, but it depends on who it is.
If they are in authority ie my daughters headteacher [she's very rude] I have to bite my tongue all the time.

The thing to do is not to react. That makes them even madder because they know what they are doing or saying is not getting to you. The reason people do that is because they have low self esteem and when they are rude to other people it makes them feel better about themselves. Its kind of a mental sickness.

I don't really react as much as conclude. I conclude that they have a problem not I. I also may conclude that they are senseless posh prats or right gits.
I have better things to devote my mental energies to, like my uni studies, and saving the planet, and all the innocent animals in it.

Well firstly if someone was being blatently rude and viscious to me, I would stand up for myself and tell them I dont take no crap. Why should you listen and be treated so?
Give as good as you get and dont rise to it, making sure they know where they stand with you.

Ask them why they are being rude - that usually stops them!
