Before I answer this question, I want to name the answerers that , in my opinion, gave really great answers, and I want to thank them for speaking out. Greylady...I don't really agree with the first part of your answer, but the second part is wonderful....Mary Madalen was NOT a whore. Some stupid pope in the 15th century started that crap. I love this statement, although I do believe that it was Constantine in the 3rd or 4th century, who started that crap. I also want to thank crittersg..., and queenmaev..., and Nemesis, and CJunk, and no n, and midsojo, and Purple-Fu...!
Now for my answer. I do believe that if Jesus existed, that it was very probable that he married, and I think that it is also very probable that he married Mary Magdalen. I do believe that if Jesus really exisited, he was no more God than all the rest of us are, and all the rest of us truly are, so that means that he was too! If he really existed, then I definately believe that his true message was edited and perverted to serve the agendas of the people who were in power at the time. If he really existed, then I believe that he might very well have been an ascended master, and a great teacher of truth, but he obviously did not succeed in getting people to truly understand what he was trying to teach them. There are and have always been, and always will be, many great teachers of God's real truth, but many people get stuck on one, and disregard many sources of exceptional wisdom, and I think that is a shame, and a great loss for the world. Why not explore many sources of wisdom, instead of believing that only one can be the correct one. If you don't do this, you don't know what you might be missing.
I could say a whole lot more about this, but I am going to stop now.

There are different versions of Christianity. Mainstream Christians believe based on bible writings that Jesus remained unmarried. The version of the Gnostic's said that Jesus married Magdalene.
Too long a time has passed to accurately check the facts. But truth can weather challenges, and it will stand the way the Christian faith strongly remains and continue to grow today. If ever, marrying is not a sin, and definitely it will not change my view of religion, including the view of most others. For what a person was, he is judged and appreciated for the the goodness he has contributed to this world. Both man and God, Jesus will continue to light our path and shine as best example for what religion is: loving, forgiving, and understanding.

there have been various religions round contained in the first few centuries ad all depending to a particular quantity on the existence and practise of Jesus Christ. The Catholics were the significant crew and gave upward thrust to what all of us understand as Christianity - besides the actual incontrovertible truth that they later chop up into Catholicism, Orthodoxy and Protestantism. They suggested the Jewish sort that celibate men were the optimal sort of human existence. sex change into mandatory to proceed the race, inspite of the indisputable fact that it change right into a contaminating impact on the male of the species. Their idea of Jesus as human perfection required him to be celibate. The Arians were a secondary crew who had similar concepts about Jesus being celibate perfection yet rejected the idea of his divinity. That faith had a skill on the early existence of the prophet Mohammed and their concepts proceed in Islam. The Gnostics were a hybrid faith depending upon the practise of Jesus, Greek philosophy and Roman secret sects. They were not anti-sex and their literature had thoughts of Jesus married to Mary Magdalene or a minimum of in a relationship such as her. They frequently disappeared around the seventh century. the first Council of Nicaea went by each of the accessible non secular literature on the time and determined what change into kosher and what wasn't. the end result change into what the Catholic and Orthodox church homes call the Bible (Luther determined he did not like a number of the former testomony and the Protestant Bible leaves out a bite). the really Gnostic e book to make the merely good shrink change into Revelation - and that do not have any sex in it. each now and then Gnostic literature is composed of basic - the most important haul being the lifeless Sea Scrolls. Mainstream Christianity might want to declare that those are works of fanciful fiction, inspite of the indisputable fact that it hasn't stopped diverse authors (such as Dan Brown) from making a fortune out of conspiracy theories. the actual incontrovertible truth that Christianity is flourishing and that Gnosticism is lengthy lengthy previous (except for some latter-day sects) factors to who change into good.

Oh I never believed in taking the scripture as being everything. It has many meanings to it there fore it has been defined by many other religions under Christianity plus Judaism. Lots of things are missing in it. It was translated and things are lost in translation. Plus some of the pages could have been damaged when they found it. Plus it was man who put it together and perhaps he didn't tell the whole story. They devised a way to oppress women. Mary who was very powerful, got put in the back seat after she had Jesus. Mary Magdelene was blasphemied into being a whore. I believe she should have been one of the Apostles. Eventually they made her a saint. If Jesus got married, then why can't the Catholic Priests and Nuns get married today.? is what I would ask.

I believe it would have a big impact with the fact that there may be a family link to Jesus.... like his great, great, great .... grand children. And to the question above asking is Mary Magdalen was a whore... for years yes, they thought she was a whore. But then (for some reason or another) they stated that she prob. wasn't and this is where the came up with the idea that she could have been Jesus's wife.

It would strengthen it if anything because I have always felt that Jesus skipped some of the challenges this world has to offer by not having a wife and children. I understand why it was not practical to leave descendants in a physical form though. Imagine people walking around from His heritage...that would be weird.

Why is it so hard to accept that the 'magic' about Jesus was his message of complete unconditional love? Why is it people have to think of him as some ancient wizard- capable of doing amazing feats like 'walking on water' yet incapable of having a female companion to love and be loved by!?
I would like to think if such a relationship could be proved, it would remind all those who believe/worship in Jesus of what his REAL message was.
Some people need something superhuman to believe in. Jesus's real message isn't enough for some people, sadly.

It certainly wouldn't change my view of religion.
It would only prove that we have been fed garbage in the bible for nearly 2000 years.
It is a well known fact that there is plenty of evidence to show that the bible is composed of only what the church deemed suitable to control the masses, rather than including all the gospels that were written about Jesus. It was the church that allocated him the status of divine being - the son of god. There is nothing to prove this status except the novel that is called the bible

Nope. Because Jesus was put on this earth as "HUMAN" and with being a human comes human emotion, that being said... Love is a very common emotion.. I think this would make me feel closer to Jesus, and religion in general because I wouldn't feel so unlike the higher power we call Jesus, because he loved another just as most of us do <3

It would be hard for me to believe that he would take a wife. Honestly, I think I would still see Him as God's son. This is an interesting question. It really makes you think. But I don't believe she was his wife.
Mary Magdalen was NOT a whore. Some stupid pope in the 15th century started that crap.
