assuming you have got fully comprehensive insurance your insurance will pay for repairs but you will have to pay the excess if any and it will possibly effect your no claims bonus

If someone bumped into you at the traffic lights then drove off unless you got their registration number or recognised them there is very little you could do. If you are in a large city or town there might be a CCTV nearby that may have recorded it. If you could track that down you might be able to get the registration number. If you did then you could make a claim on your insurance who will then take him to court and do him.
But... for someone to actually do this it makes me think they would be either a banned driver, a drunk or a joyrider/s or may not even have registered the vehical in their names. It is amazing how many illegal drivers there are out there, even with newer cars.
If some yobs ran up to your car and started kicking it then unless you knew the person and have a witness then again there is little you can do. It is often wise to let your insurance company know even if you are just asking for some advice from them. The bigger reputable brokers will be able to guide you down the best path.
If this question is purely for interest sake then you seem to be worrying about something that may never happen to you. If both of these things have actually happened then I feel you are very unlucky or live in a very rough area.
If you are fully comp you may get the repairs done on your insurance. Make sure you have protected no claims if it has yet to happen but even still you will be liable for probably the first couple of hundred pounds of the repair.

As others have said if you have fully comp with protected no claims then its worth claiming. If you have 3rd party, fire and theft you are up the creek. My daughter has 3rd party and her car was hit by joy riders and badly damaged. We didnt see it happen but it was obvious that a maroon golf had hit it up the back (evident from maroon paint on her car and the car bumper which was left at the scene) however we didnt have the reg of the car that hit her. It was hard enough getting crime number from the police - they didnt want to know - and her insurance wouldn't pay out. Always get a witness where possible and a description & reg of the car xxxxxxx

A friend had a hit and run accident in which her vehicle was destroyed and she was hospitalised, her fully comprehensive cover paid up for the car and is still paying for physio'.
If you have 3rd party Legal requirement, you take a greater risk, but pay less money. TPLR insurance does not cover your vehicle, or you, just the third party.
If a gang of yob's damage your car, the same applies. It is covered under fully comp, but not TPLR.
One of my car's is worth £200 ( it's an old fiesta) I have it insured third party legal requirement, but I have paid an added premium to cover my self (in case of injury) and another added premium to cover ANY legal expenses. I reccomend that to anyone when you look at the ever more litegious society we live in, a court battle could costs ten's of thousands of pounds.
One of my other car's is SORN notified, never driven and garaged for over six years, and STILL insured... It's a minimal outlay to protect my beloved Six series.... One day baby, One day I'll afford the welding and the driveshaft !!
How can the police catch someone in order thay get "done" ? sadly it's very unlikely when you look at the workload of your average copper, they are in it up to thier armpits, they work like hell and every day, there's more crime, and with our justice system, you need 100% proof befroe you go to court theese days or some clever **** solicitor will wriggle out from under the weight of the law on some tiny technicality.
Dont worry about it, it's part of living in todays society and it's what fully comprehensive insurance is for.

You have to be living somewhere close to me. That happened to us . We were waiting at a circle for an oncoming car and the person went straight into the side of our car. He just raced off. It was dark. We just scrapped the car and bought another second hand one. Real mean person who just ride off without checking if someone has got injured. Thankfully not all people are like that. But phone your insurance and ask them.

This is a very awkward situation, but if there are CCTV cameras nearby, they might be able to zoom in on the registration number and get the drivers done. I hope this never happens to anyone.

Damn, woman...what kind of neighborhood do you live in? Hit and run would be handled under your collision (at least in the U.S.), hooligans smashing your vehicle will be a comprehensive claim. Deductible amounts, if any, will be applied per loss.
My advice is to move.

this is statistically shown fact that pink autos get pulled over greater beneficial than the different shade; drivers of pink autos entice police interest, as they have an inclination to exceed speed limits, etc.. It relies upon on what style you're thinking, too. in case you're finding at a splash sporty-zippy, you will enhance your opportunities of issues. to no longer point out, pink is likely one in each and every of the worst colorations to do physique fix on.choose for a shade this is easy to maintain, isn't laid low with solar (pink & black are the worst) and does not scream " seem at me!!" especially, force precise ~ no count what you pick for.

do you lie awake worrying about these things? Don't. a) make sure you have comprehensive insurance and b) it is only a lump of metal so providing you are not hurt that's all that matters.
