from the 1950s onwards sunnis called the ahmedi, baha, sufi, alawite and ishmaelites infidels, and included all non muslims too. the latest group to be branded infidels are the shias.

It goes back longer than that! Try almost 2000 years!

It has to do with the Caliph line up.

NEITHER side has ever given in an inch.

The ONLY unification factors are the Ottomans, the Zionists and the Americans.

That's something both sects agree on.

IF world Islam ever happened (which it won't) the NEXT DAY, someone will call for a new Caliph and you'll watch CIVIL war between the Sunni and Shia over WHO gets the pick the Caliph, IF there is a need for one and should it be Shia or Sunni.

If there is no agreement (like in Iraq today between the two) then there will be WAR between the two camps, each calling the other INFIDELS.

Since ONE camp out numbers the other by a considerable margine, we can just guess who will be GENOCIDED and IRRADICATED.

Are Islamics ready for THAT reality. The days of ONE sect are numbered. The MOMENT the Zionist and Western threat is removed, it will be your turn.

The old cliche about Hitler. When they came for the Catholics I said nothing for I am a proestant. When they came for the Jews I said nothing for I am not Jewish. When they came for me, there was NO ONE left to say a word in MY defense, for they were already taken away!

In the Name of Almighty God, Most Gracious, Ever Merciful
Peace and Blessings on His Final Prophet and Messenger
and upon his Perfumed Family and all of his Devoted Companions

No legitimate Sunni scholar would make blanket takfir of all Shias. It is corrupt Wahabbis who wear the cloak of Sunnism that do such things. True Sunnis may have some disagreements with Shias, but they would not say that all of them are absolutely outside the pale of Islam. That is just another form of extremism.

They have innovated...

The Prophet said 1400+ years ago

[006:159] Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam]) have no concern with them in the least. Their affair is only with Allâh, Who then will tell them what they used to do.

(V.6:159) It is said that the Prophet [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] recited this Verse and said: "These people are those who invent new things (Bid'ah) in religion and the followers of the vain desires of this Muslim nation, and their repentance will not be accepted by Allâh." (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)
[It has been narrated in the Hadîth Books (At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Mâjah and Abu Dâwûd) that the Prophet [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] said: "The Jews and the Christians will be divided into seventy-one or seventy-two religious sects and this nation will be divided into seventy-three religious sects, all in Hell, except one, and that one is: on which I and my Companions are today, i.e. following the Qur'ân and the Prophet's Sunnah (legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements)."]
