There is no way to connect this camera to normal PC.
However if you have analog video input card like - Pinnacle AV/DV card which comes along with Pinnacle video editing software and costs approx Rs. 9000/- (in India) can import the picture to PC and can convert the format to CD/DVD compatible.
Also by using one D8 - Camera - DCR-TRV285E - MRP Rs. 18,990 /- (In India) most probably you can connect it to PC while old Hi8 cassetes will work.

I am not 100% certain, but more than likely it has a way to connect the video camera to a VHS tape recorder. If so then you can purchase a video capture card for your computer and connect the video camera to the computer that way. It's actually quite handy and useful for all video cameras that provide a video out (can't see why any of them wouldn't).

you have a couple of choices, 1 get the copied professionally around $10 per tape. 2 buy another camera and do it yourself, you would then be able to edit it before you put them onto DVD, you will need a digital8 camera they are not expensive these days, the reason digital is that you will get a better video. to get the video onto your computer you will need a firewire card and cable, for them both around $15, the camera maybe $100 ish. once the video ins on your computer you can edit it and put the video onto DVD keep the Tapes safe as you may want to do another batch and its better to archive them on tape. It sounds complicated but honestly its not. RR

Use a USB lead that's what I use with my sony digital 8 handycam and my digital camera. And I used to do this with my older video camera. Just buy a standard USB lead. (It's grey and short.)

No its too outdated...there are no cables to connect with unless you buy a video card with AV imputs on it. If your camera has a cord with AV imputs on it that you would normally connect to a TV/VCR to view or record your tapes that way you would have to buy the video card with those imputs on it. Then the correct software to convert the video for formats like DVDs or VCDs. Any more q's just send me an email. The link is in my profile.

Ignore all the previous answers. What you require is an analogue to digital converter (forget a card - that means you have to open your computer to install it). I use a Pinnacle Dazzle Fusion which plugs into a USB port - details on the url below.
