I'm not sure what color your skin, hair and eyes are, but my daughter always looked pretty when she got the baby blue colors for her braces. You will be sore for a few days, but after that, they will be second nature to you.

My son chose his school colors (blue and yellow). My other son chose his favorite color (orange). Don't worry about drooling because you will be nervous and usually when people get nervous their mouth gets dry. You can always ask the professional what the most popular colors are because I know at your age you want to fit in with everyone else.
My oldest son had no problems with pain or soreness with his braces. My youngest son who is your age has not had such an easy time with his. When we go in and they change one of the bands he is very sore for several days and can only eat soft foods like soup, yogurt, milk shakes, pudding. After a few days though he is fine and back to eating his regular food. They will teach you at the orthodontist what foods to avoid with your braces.
For your own sake as well as your parents . . . . .when you get your braces off please remember to wear your retainer every night.

Just get the plain silver ones as you never know what the other ones will look like. They only hurt for a few days and it's uncomfortable when they put them in but you'll get used to them very quickly. You can eat most things although harder foods like carrots and apples are a bit harder so you might need to cut them at first and you can't have things like chewing gum.

if your orthodontist is like ours you will get the plain braces till he sees that you take care of them then he gives you colors. I also have a suggestion for you. When you get them tightened up have something to eat on like a hamburger. Nothing soft. The more you chew works out the soreness out of your mouth. I do it every time they do anything to the braces. Good Luck

Colors? WTF? I only got metal-colored braces. No one ever gave me a choice or asked me what color I wanted.
Yes they hurt. Not the first day, but the third day on to the 7th day hurts like hell. Then it subsides a bit. It will hurt for 2-3 days after every tightening session. You won't drool but you will get food stuck in your teeth, bad breath and maybe a wire that gets loose and jabs your gums (hopefully not).
