I got a Brazilian wax for my wedding/honeymoon a few months ago and I loved the results, except that for the next few days after, it was itching so-o badly, which has made me not want to go get another one. Is that common and what can I do about it? Is it from the regrowth and if so, what can I put on it to stop the itching? I have pretty sensitive skin so I was thinking that maybe I was allergic to the wax or something, but if it's a common problem, I'd like to know what to do. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Also, I did go to a good salon to have it done--I went to a great spa and had the wax done by an aesthetician who has been doing it for years. Thanks for the great answers so far!

You should exfoliate the area every day in the shower with a gentle scrub to prevent ingrowns! There are commercial products available that have been mentioned, but exfoliating is the most important thing. You can then moisturize the area once you get out of the shower.

The waxing should not have made you itch, next time make sure the aesthetician thats doing it is not dipping the same stick into the wax pot over and over..unless she tells you all that wax is only for your service and she's going to throw it away..and let her know that it made you itch next time so that she can recommend something to treat it. Waxing exfoliates the skin so it could also have been the wax itself that irritated your skin, there are waxes that are a lot more gentle for sensitive skin. Keep an eye out for all these things and don't be afraid to ask questions! Have a Happy New Year!!

Sounds like the hair follicles have become inflamed/infected. Did you go to a decent salon to have it done? I have a complete Brazilian wax or the Hollywood wax all the time and I never have that issue, it could be a sensitivity to the wax, try using NADS wax its very basic and natural. Its also a cold wax that will dissolve if it goes anywhere you don't want it to.

The woman that did your waxing should have given/sold you something to help with the after affects.
Call the salon and ask.

oftentimes a wax will final approximately 4-5 weeks. it in basic terms lasts me 2 weeks because of the fact my hair grows like loopy! trim it to between a million/4 and a million/2 inch. in any different case it relatively is going to be PAINFUL. and there is an threat the hair will wreck off and proceed to grow or reason ingrowns in case you do no longer trim first. have a tumbler of wine in the past you get it completed. you're able to bleed a sprint (alcohol thins the blood), however the wine will make you no longer care. in case you bypass to a salon that has 'bioelements' products, there is those issues referred to as emergency soothing powder. it relatively is blended with a dab of water and utilized to the section merely waxed; it sooths the section as we talk. get a gel eyemask and placed it interior the freezer. be conscious it to the section merely waxed to sooth the discomfort away. (take one with you and ask the waxer to put in their freezer for you untill you have been waxed) do no longer ignore approximately your armpits and feet.

i also experience the same reaction - basically as the hair has started to grow back and is very short. dumb isn't it; to go through all that pain of the brazilian wax, only to have it last just a few days before it becomes hideous and stubbly! (and itchy)

Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoilate! I get regular waxes and the only time I have this problem is when I forget to exfoliate.
