If it's been longer than 10 years since you were discharged, contact the credit bureaus. If it's been less than 10 years, there's not a darn thing you can do until 10 years from your discharge. You can take steps to improve your credit score which will help you but that bankruptcy record was legally put there and legally stays with you.

actually a bankruptcy will now fall off after only 5 years, you cannot have it removed from the report unless you offer to pay back the charged off amount that was liquidated in the bankruptcy. (and even then it's still kind of a gray area as far as being removed) I would suggest taking your concern to a consumer credit counseling service and they will advise you of the best and quickest way to handle this matter.

If it was important, I would let a credit repair program take a stab at it.

7 long years (Canada) and you are stuck with that on your record, so just as a warning to others - bankruptcy is not always the way out.
