To me Phil. 2:12 is a look at where the Christian could have been save for eternal salvation by grace through faith. Yeah, I look at it in exactly that way, God was good enough to chose me, I didn't choose God & therefore was headed straight for hell. Very humbling.
I believe baptism is a sign and seal of the covenant between God and His own, and this rite can thus be taken in the same context as circumcision & being "marked out" as God's people. The two go together, a believer should naturally want to be marked in this manner.
Soul-life? Haven't heard it put that way before, but this verse would have to do with giving up our natural desire for the comforts of this world. Is it a requirement to struggle with our sin as a requirement for salvation? You bet it is.

First with Matthew, that is clearly implies salvation through Christ. If we try to save our own life, meaning earn our own salvation by our own self-righteousness, we will die, but if we lose our life to Christ (meaning surrender to him and repent) then we will find salvation.
Concerning Philippians, look at the three verses before it! "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father". Still doubt the importance of Christ?
Concerning Mark 16:16, some of the earliest Greek manuscripts do not even have that verse! But look at the purported verse in its entirety: "He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whosoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not BELIEVE will be condemned............ After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God"
Baptism is not an absolute requirement of salvation, yet it is something good to do. My simple proof - the thief on the cross who repented was not baptized yet he found salvation. Jesus did not say, "Get baptized first, then you will be with me in paradise" - no, salvation is secured once you confess that Christ is the Redeemer. Emphasis on the "."

Paul was reminding the Phillipians that salvation wasn't about them, and to be humble.he was reminding them of the bigger picture:
Phl 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.
Baptism is a natural byproduct of salvation. it is the symbolic death of the old life and rebirth into the new; it is the act which denotes willingness to receive the Holy Spirit. A person who becomes a Christian should also be baptised.
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
I don't see anywhere where I needed to give up my soul.
The verse is about sacrifice, again the bigger picture.

Baptism will not save you, but it is required , but like the thief on the cross he did not have the opptunity to be baptized he went to pardise anyways.. , so unless you got saved and died before you were baptized then it should be done.
Matt. 16:25).
Thousands lose their souls for the most trifling gain, or the most worthless indulgence, nay, often from mere sloth and negligence. Whatever is the object for which men forsake Christ, that is the price at which Satan buys their souls. Yet one soul is worth more than all the world. This is Christ's judgment upon the matter; he knew the price of souls, for he redeemed them; nor would he underrate the world, for he made it. The dying transgressor cannot purchase one hour's respite to seek mercy for his perishing soul. Let us then learn rightly to value our souls, and Christ as the only Saviour of them.
There is just not enought room to copy and paste all the text for these answers so I hope this helps.

Once again, depends on your belief system. However the concept of Grace negates the concept of Jesus.
Jesus died so you can be an "evil" person with saving grace?
All GOOD people are predestined and saved by GOD and ALL EVIL people are predesinted and go to hell.
GOD makes people that do things that end them up in hell.
That's a GOOD GOD!
Did God make Charlie Manson. If so, did God put his name in the Book of Life since poor Charlie had no choice in things.
Now, the followers of Charlie, that's another story. Did GOD make them or not?
If that's the case, then ADAM AND EVE were made to eat the apple, so what the hell is the point of the origianal sin when GOD predestined it!
Sometimes I think Calvin was more diluded than Muhammad!

In VERY short form......
1) Is about finding you own relationship with God and not joining some cult that wont let you think or decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong.
2) Yes, and there are three baptisms. Holy Spirit, Water and Fire. All three are equally pertinent to salvation.
3) Is about death to self. It is not your literal soul he is speaking of here, but more you own will and desires.
Please get in a good bible study and learn, learn, learn all you can about who Jesus is. Be blessed.

I hold that the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross has to be merited by our conversion of heart and our willingness to lead a new life in Christ.
