The Soviet Union was much more like Rome.

Of course the US will never stop all conflict. Nor does it have any intention of doing so. But there are problems in the Middle East which need to be addressed and we're doing that the most efficient way that could be done. Or do you think that we should attack Syria and Iran head-on?

If you see anybody like that around Rome get them "carded". Official US troops have non-expired passports with border entry stamps. Every one of the troops in Iraq has a passport since that was an invasion that was authorized by Congress.

I totally agree with you. But in some areas I disagree - such as the downfall of USA. No. But the bit about world police and holy wars you have written is exactly my view too.

Rome is a city. ; U.S. is a country.
U.S. = mostly English; Rome = mostly Italian
Rome was into conquering; U.S. into liberating
Rome used it's strength and wealth towards conquering; U.S. uses strength and wealth to spread ideal of democracy AS WELL AS sends billions of dollars in humanitarian aid all over the world.

Lots of differences. Oh, and it's OUR forces.. not ARE forces.
