Your problem is probably psychological or medical. There are numerous reasons why people can't go right to sleep; anxiety, too much concentration on a particular problem or person, pain, uncomfortable bed, too cold in the room, to hot in the room, stuffy air, noisy, too much light, Wondering about the rest of the house...door locked, windows locked? Taking medication often help in getting to sleep but too much of anything is no good. ?Ambian works well. Ambient CR works even better. Ativan in small dosages will give you a good night's sleep but you cannot stay on it too long. Two weeks would be enough. A hot glass of milk (no chocolate) sometimes works. Don't eat or drink before bedtime. Think of pleasant thoughts over and over, it sometimes works. Don't think of heavy stuff////complicated, not good. An aspirin sometimes helps. Lerns to relax your entire body. Good Luck.

Drink hot milk and try to relax. Do not think about anything during bedtime as you will only make your mind more active. And by the way, why did you post this under Religion and Spirituality?
Oh nevermind! If all else fails, try running a warm bath before bed and avoid coffee or tea as it will only stimulate the mind, thus making you unable to sleep even more. If these don't work, go to a doctor.

Dont lay down on your bed.
take a long drive out of the city and fall asleep on a rest area.
Get a job and work Hard
call in sick for the week and / or quit your job and move to another city
take some nyquil, or some sleeping pills, at best they work only temporary.
Shout at God with all the fury and anger until he sends an angel and you are given a sleep remedy. until you become exhausted and fall alseep in despair.
Repent of your sins
hire a detective to watch your home for intruders in case your home is poisoned with Methamphetamine.
See a doctor and get prescription drugs like benhidryl. or prosac or lithium
eat a hot juicy steak, or a bowl of chili, or even several tablespoons of honey. I hear marshmallow cream works too, but you gain weight. You can also try drinking a pot of strong black coffee with peppermint. but that dont work for a day or two.
get rid of your boyfriend and stay away from your family so that no one has access to you while you do sleep.
i woke up once while my neighbors were in my bedroom as they were injecting a needle into my arm, after that I suffered a heart attack and a stroke at the same time.
sleep deprivation is a forbidden knowledge and a criminal act done by secret combinations of witchcrafts and sorceries. To them it is a game and a way of life to hurt others. sleep deprivation weakens the will of the spirit through exhaustion to be able to resist the act of being drugged for sexual immoralities and for Mind Control techniques.

Most Moon Children can't sleep because we burn energy in our sleep. This is why we can eat most anything and not get that fat.
We have the ability to do phenomenal things which I have also done more than once.
We can predict, sense feelings on others, we are above the norm on humans and we carry very high IQ, mine is 140.
I need say no more.

Take a small rectangular piece of cloth.
Fold it in half so it makes a square.
Sew up two sides and leave one open, making a square pouch.
Stuff it with lavender blossoms and pink wild dog rose petals. Add chamomile and/or mugwort if you like.
Sew up the remaining side, creating a small square dream pillow.
Leave it on the pillow beside your face as you lay down to sleep, where you can inhale the scent.
You'll be out cold in minutes.

The causes are many and the remedies are various.
I don't worry, because it is the worst cause of insomnia.
When I cannot sleep, I keep on seeking some interesting things to do, such as to ask and answers questions, to write a poem (not for selling, but for the soaring of the soul), to rearrange my desk...just keep on doing things without worrying even for the whole night, then the body will feel so sleepy that we cannot continue to read even the most interesting book!
Yes, don't worry, do things naturally, and the body will ask for its rest.
If your body still disobeys you, please consult physicians.

I would recommend that you drink a bit of warm milk, sit in a chair and read for awhile. Then when you feel sleepy, go back to bed. You don't want to lie in bed not sleeping. You want your body to associate bed with sleep, not wakefulness. Eventually, you will sleep.

When I can't sleep, but want too; I dream about creation, how it must have been before the serpent entered. That is one of my favorite things to imagine.
