Why is it that when anyone brings up religion, all defenders, and opposers alike, have to attack the asker with all these verses, and quotes from their bibles, and preach to no end? No matter how lightly the question is meant to be taken, people just don't know how to control themselves. They want to push their beliefs onto other people, even when its completely obvious that these other people do not give a rat's patootie about them? Why must every religion-related statement or question, no matter how indirectly, elict a fight? Why is everyone so heavily obsessed with religion? Its seems to me that it's harming you more than it's helping you.Think about it - almost half the world's problems are religion-related! Even division amongst people who are unable to accept others' beliefs ends up more serious than anyone could've guessed.
Now i know people will do just that, picking on small details and bombarding me with things like "its not half, its 49.99%!"
Please take this seriously.

When i say that most world problems are reigion-related, i mean indirectly of course. I mean that it only helps escalate the anger and hatred towards others.

Very well put. I could go on for an hour and not do the job you just did. I believe that you have the key to the world's religion concepts and I implore you to keep the key hidden. Too many out there who would fight at the drop of a hat. Better that we should lock them up.

everyone is driven by there religion which blocks them from logic and reality! some people are just here because they are bored and they want to offend someone Muslim,Jewish, Christian, Etc... just because they just dont know anything better to do.. or they dont have a full picture of it all... I dont believe in any organized religion because every religion was brought up to a nation that had something wrong going and it had to be stopped and they took it to extremes! and I think the believe in god is in you.. either you use god or not in your thinking.... when you do something good you feel it and when you do something bad you feel it also.. there is a lot to explain but thats all for now!

i would just like to add that this kind of thing happens in physics too! i guess everyone here is only too well aware of the evolutionist-creationist arguments, but unless you have seen it you simply wouldnt believe the passions unleashed in some people about the veracity or not of einsteins theories of relativity or quantum mechanics!
it is a wonder to behold! and very hard indeed to try and have a sensible discussion about anything in unmoderated newgroups like sci.physics or sci.physics.relativity without someone flaming someone else.

i guess we just cant resist squabbling?

Religion always has been and always will be a hot topic. Our soul and spirit seem to crave it immensely.

People want everyone else to believe what they believe because of their insecurities. If you are the only person who believes in something, that makes you a nutter.
