I seem to be not sweating when I go to the gym (except when I do cardio). Does this mean I should try harder??

You're kinda like me. It takes time for me to sweat because the intial workout that i'm doing is not hard enough. I would suggest to definitely do a lot of cardio if you want to lose weight. It might be that your body is just trying to adjust to the daily workouts if you just started working out recently. Do not worry about not getting a lot of sweat though as most people who does daily walking. Believe me, if you do plenty enough exercise then it still takes a good amount of calories out of your body. I would suggest for you to consult a personal trainer at your gym to find out what is the best program for you and go from there. I would also suggest to correlate your diet to your exercise. I hope this helps.

Negative. People who don't sweat after rigorus activity are dehydrated. It's simple. You sweat the fluid that you put into your body. If you hardly sweat and you were working out in an environment that was mildly warm, you need to take in some fluids. Even if you were working out in the cold, your core body temperature will still rise and cause persperation. However, in your case it sounds like you lift weights and not sweat. Lifting weights doesn't use the same amount of energy as running (cardio). You are likely to sweat more running, jogging or cycling than lifting weights.

The amount of sweat that you see is not proportional to the amount of physical work that you are doing. It may be evaporating, or your body just isn't getting hot enough to require cooling by perspiration. Sweating is not a guide to the amount of exercise although there are still plenty of people who have that misconception.

No, it doesn't mean that you aren't trying hard enough. Cardio is different from weight lifting or toning. Your heart rate is elevated during cardio. It may be elevated during weight lifting, but usually not as much.
