pit bulls are a very gentle and lovely dogs, they are also great with kids,i have a pit bull and my kids pull her all over,do i trust her.
yes and no.
the problem with pit bulls is that they are so aggressive in play and tend to get carried away,as you may know pit bulls jaws lock up just like staffordshire bull terriers and tend not to let go.
i always say it how to raise your dog,and ours is a big puppie at heart.
with any dog they can turn aggressive, pit bulls are now banned here in the UK,if you have one then the dog stays with you until its life ends.I also see and hear many story's about pit bulls attacking children and humans.
would i enter a yard with a pit bull in i dint no,absolute no way,i guess i answered your question and my own.
hope this helps

In my opinion and my experience with them they are the sweetest dogs you could ever own and to me they are more loyal then any other dog i have encountered with. I say that the whole breed shouldnt be punished the owners should be...and a lot of the time its not the dogs fault that they attack...for instance in Canada there was this little kid that was attacked by his pet and in the end the dog got put down thats all that the media said and then late on the dog went through an autopsy and they found a pencil lodged in his ear...if you ask me any dog would have done the exact same thing...and no one knew where the parents were when the kid did this. So I say that they are not a threat and what would make them a threat is their owners who abuse them and use them as fighting dogs. Sorry if this a long answer but I love Pit Bulls.

I want to clarify some things for a few people who obviously have never owned a pitbull. They can be aggressive, but it is all in how they are trained, the most common dog bites are from the cute and cuddly Cocker Spaniel. So before you all want to place a blame on a breed read up and learn more about it. I have 3 pitbulls, my oldest being 2yrs old, she is a child therapy dog for the local hospital. I in return am a responsible dog owner and will never leave ANY breed alone with a child or someone the dog does not know. I want people to be aware that if we banned or restricted every breed that bit someone we would have no dogs allowed anywhere. At any given time the smallest breed can bite and the largest breed can bite. It is because of what the people have used the pitbull for is why everyone wants to blame the breed not the deed. I say we put tighter owner restrictions on people who have them, if they are not used to show they need to be fixed. If they are caught making the dog aggressive ,take the dog.Punsih the human race for our stupidity not the canine for trusting in us to do what we ask of it.

It was one of the most popular breeds, highly prized by a wide variety of people. The Pit Bull was used to represent the US in WW1 artwork. Popular companies like RCA and the Buster Brown Shoe Company used the breed as their mascots. A Pit Bull named Petie starred in the popular children's television series, Our Gang; a Pit Bull mix named Stubby became a decorated WW1 hero. Also, Laura Ingalls Wilder of the popular Little House books owned a working Pit Bulldog named Jack. Famous individuals like Theodore Roosevelt and Helen Keller owned this breed too! It was during this time that the Pit Bull truly became America's sweetheart; admired, respected and loved by everyone. The sly smile, those determined eyes, and that eager to please attitude have evoked both rational and irrational human emotions. By no means are this dogs people-haters or people-eaters. Their natural aggressive tendencies towards other dogs have earned them a bad name. However if they are properly socialized, they will not even be aggressive to them. Pit bulls are truly quality companions for quality owners only! They can turn out to be extremely loyal, clownish, good-natured and an affectionate animal; always ready to please the master. However, as with any breed, they shouldn't be left alone with unfamiliar children.

The blame shouldn't fall to the breed, yet to vendors who misuse the breed. sure they're agressive, yet that agression basically turns into an argument while the canines is in an agressive atmosphere. i comprehend many property vendors of pits and that i actually own 2 Rottweilers. My grandmother had a pomeranian who became meaner than all of them mixed. My male Rott weighs over a a hundred punds, and is the main important infant you will ever meet. He loves human beings, and has never gotten agressive with all and sundry, pal or stranger. My yellow lab is meaner than he's. The blind opinion of folk who have faith each and every thing they see on television or examine interior the paper are what has contributed to the biased evaluations of those animals. sure, pit bulls have attacked human beings without provocation. yet on the information, do they ever communicate that those canines have been abused via their vendors-offered as drug-secure practices canines-thrown out interior the exterior on a three foot chain without nutrition, water, or look after? Any canines could be a undertaking and be agressive in direction of human beings after being dealt with that way. and to not point out those that are provoked. In my community, a 14-3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous boy became throwing rocks at a german sheperd interior a fence. and not small rocks, huge ones that decrease the canines while they hit him. After some hits, the canines jumped the fence and bit the youngster. yet did that area of the story make the information? of direction not. This became a viscouis animal who attacked this poor, harmless, defenseless toddler. ideal. To all and sundry who has been attacked, or knows somebody who has, you have my inner maximum sympathies. it somewhat is the vendors of those animals that provide the animal this stereotype that it has. Dont blame a canines for performing the way it somewhat is been experienced or raised to act. Blame the human beings. Irresponsible vendors would desire to be wiped off the face of the planet. not the canines.

Pit bulls are only a threat if raised to be viscious.
"bully breeds" are actually one of the most "sensitive" breeds there are. They are not naturally agressive animals. the thing that is kept out of the stories of the pit bull attacks, is that the dog is likely being tormented by the person they attack, and the owner is inconveniently not around to intervene. pit bull or chocolate lab.. they are still animals, and you never know what to expect from them.

Its never the breed, its always the owner. Pit Bulls are wonderfull dogs and can be very loving. It takes an experienced owner to have a pit bull, one that understands the breed well and knows what it needs and how to keep it balanced. With this pit bulls make wonderfull pets and it shouldnt be the dog or breed that should be punished, it should be their owners. They are only a threat if we make them a threat.

of course they are a threat someone mentioned that they are animal agressive well guess what they are human agressive too. I have seen an attack from a pit bull on an animal control officer i hope i never have to witness anything like that again . Oh and to the person named summit in here you are wrong re-read laura ingalls -wilder's dog named jack was a cur dog not a pit bull . and yes petey from our gang was a pit bull but they always had someone standing by with something to end the dog if something should have happened read the book by spanky. it did not trust petey and neither did his mother who was always on set . The owners of these dogs should have to carry extra insurance and also should have to muzzle them when they are walking them so in the case they break free they cannot do any damage . good luck and god bless.

Pit's are great dogs and they are very protective of their owners. However, the pit's everyone hears about in the news are abused and are raised to fight. If a pit is raised with love and is treated right, with my experience they are one of the best pets you could have.

It is only about 1-5% of the pitbulls that cause any trouble. However, if a pitbull is attacked by a Germand Shepherd, the pitbull gets blamed.

Most pitbulls are like most other dogs, nice dogs.
