I'm an African American female and about 4 months ago I put a reddish rinse in my hair which didn't take that well, so I waited for it to wash out. New years eve I dyed my hair Spice Red, my original hair color is a dark brown, and althoughn you can see the color it didn't take as well as I wanted it to. How long should I wait before I dye it again.

You can dye your hair today again, but make sure you use something with ash(green) in it if you want to counteract the red. Make sure you use a really good conditioner after wards and don't rub your scalp. You should be fine as long as you wait another week or two after the second go around

i suggested going to a professional hair dresser or color artist. I had a similar experience myself, the bottles got mixed and I put a red on my hair (dark brown) which had bleach in it. I'm guessing the dye you used has bleach in it too, so the rule is to wait about 6 weeks before trying to bleach or lighten your hair again. You would be okay to use a temp/washout hair color. I would also suggested putting a lot of closteral (sp?) on your hair with a shower cap over it for about 45 minutes to an hour at least once a week, so you're hair doesn't get the gum or straw like texture from over processing. on the box it says 2 weeks but thats with people with healthy hair. if u relax your hair it could be a huge risk doing it so soon. i would probably wait about a month at least to dye it again, but if u cant stand it, put in another rinse thats your natural hair color to cover it up until then. it wont be as damaging as a dye and you wont be embarrassed about a bad dye job.

u can dye your hair after a week or two but red doesnt come out very easily u should wait until it comes out a little before trying to dye it again.

actually its preferably to dye your hair after three months as dying your hair frequently may harm your hair. hope my answer helps.
