When I read ur question, I thought why has he mentioned 'humanity' amongst religions? Having said that, I agree that 'humanity' is probably the noblest faith to follow.

Then I checked the dictionary meaning of religion:

1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

This could be applied to any of the religions u mentioned and dozens other religions.

2. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience.

Isn't it what humanity, or being human, is all about: following ethics and one's conscience?

So although I am a Hindu and do believe in God, I think humanity is the best religion of all because people of any faith can follow it, and if they did, this world would defintiely be a better place to live.

Well, religious in which way ? This needs to be understood - do you refer to it in a positive manner? Being religious? Every religion contains the same or similar doctrine. Its the modern man's interpretation that is posing such a query and we end up trying to sift through to see which one is more religious. All religions propagate human good will and working for the good of one self or others. Seldom do we follow all this. Instead we practise the rituals and traditions in the name of religion and not the doctrine. thus, what is religion in the name of religion is not so today at all.

I am a Hindu. I am comfortable with being one. I also see people belonging to other faiths. they seem comfortable too. But most of us dont follow the human good will that is propagated. We all - with no exceptions - follow the rituals and traditions. The doctrine is lost. We cling to the rituals. If we follow our texts faithfully, each of our religions will be religious and the best

The question does not make any sense !
Religion is a set of principles and beliefs.
Religious or Religiosity is the attitude of the follower based on his understanding ( acquired or self developed ) of the given scriptures of the religion for eg., some Muslim scholars believe that "Jihad" by and large refers to the inner struggle of the individual to overcome human weaknesses not a war with others. Baptism in Christianity is considered by a few as the exercise of free will to accept Jesus as the saviour but the majority baptise their kids when they are too young to understand anything the argument being that its the parents responsibility to lead their children to Christ. Few Hindus believe that "varna" (cast) is the inherent nature of the individual his ability of what function can he perform in society, but the majority base it on birth.
Thus all religions have their own contradictions and conflicts as far as interpretation of the basic principles are concerned and so the followers differ in their attitude towards self, others and the world.
The basic harm to the fabric of society has been done by those who are at the helm of Religions for the purpose of selfish interests
There is no question of one religion being more religious than the other

All religions aim for the creation of a perfect society based on humane values. Humanism is a religion minus god

Each of those you have listed are individual religions. Islam may not work for a christian, Hinduism may not be appropriate for Islam... To each his or her own. I don't take particular interests for any named religion. I just do what I do and live life how I want as opposed to how other people tell me to. Happy New Year.

The followers of all religions beleive that thiers is the truest and god revealed religion. But none of these followers can substantiate. There are several attempts by the followers of certain relegions to prove that theirs is the right path, without realising there are flaws in their argument. If there was only one true religion, god who is the creator of human beings would have ensured our birth in that true religion and would n't have sought the help of ordinary mortals - the human beings to convert people from other religions. This belief of one upmanship aggressively promoted by the religions of the book is leading to bloodshed and destruction in the world today. There would be no end to this madness. Even if the entire world is following one religion and beleive in the same god, there would still be differences due to varied interpretation of the same book. One can already see the different denominations with in the same religion. I am sure who ever the god is, he wouldn't want his creations to fight amonst themselves and kill each. If the god is so inhuman, then he is not a god. Since none of the religions seem to be complete and all religions preach good, they can be considered as different paths to the same destination. It is the preachers, especially those on the television, who are creating this bad blood and dividing people. These preachers have made god into a commodity or soap and often seem to be aggressively selling them. Does god require all this? Is it not fair that we leave such issues to god himself, while following our respective paths and making religion more of a personal choice.

No religion is really religious, the religions teach you only what the so called leaders want you to learn and to follow them blindly. If only one religion was really religious, why should there be so many religions. Just love your self and all around you.

Being religious is an individual option. Religiosity may not necessarily indicate holiness. Each religion has its own religious rituals so all of them are religious, only they have different ways of expressing it.
