She needs to get to the hospital if she is having high fevers and nose bleeds. You can get permanent brain damage from high fevers.

Given these vague symptoms there are many possible reasons. Nose bleeds occur more frequently in winter. Our skin is drier in the winter and so are our mucous membranes which can often cause nose bleeds. There are soooooooo many things that could cause your daughter's fever. Because you said that it is a high fever I would be concerned and would say she needs to be checked out by a physician as soon as possible. If you cannot afford health care for her and with this being a holiday weekend most clinics will be closed so I think you should call the emergency room and tell them what is going on with your daughter, explain that you cannot afford emergency room costs and ask them what their advice would be to get treatment for your daughter. If you have a doctor that she usually sees then you can call his or her office even after hours. The doctor will have an answering service or will have an answering machine with instructions for you. If the answering machine says something like "if this is a medical emergency" then a 9 year old with a high temperature is definately a medical emergency. It may be that she just has the flu but you need to speak with a qualified health care person who knows all of her symptoms in order to be advised on the best possible treatment for your daughter. Good luck. Having a sick child is the most helpless feeling a mother can have. I hope she is better soon and hope that you are reassured soon as well.
