I agree that you should invite other people with dogs over to help socialize your puppy and it's a great way for you to connect with other dog owners. You'll all have fun.
Just realize that dogs don't really have any conception of "birthdays" like we humans do. To your puppy it's just another day, only the aspects of the party itself (other dogs and people, the food) make it different.

Hello! I think you should definitely keep food very light since its summer and possibly very hot... Some things I would serve: -Fruits -Watermelon slices -Ice Cream/ Frozen Yogurt (maybe have a table where people can put there own toppings) -Mini Pizzas Games: -Water balloons (are a must!) -Slip 'n Slide Hope this helps! :)

Having a birthday party for puppy is one of the cutest ideas. I have a passion for pets and I personally celebrate birthday for each of my pets . This goes real funny when you ask your friends to bring along their pets for the party. Even I arrange costume party for the pets and have cakes with their names on . It brings a feeling that they are a part of our families too as we celebrate the birthday of our family members. Nowadays there are lots of sites which lets you to send free ecards on birthday for pets to your fellow pet owner . you can try http://www.123greetings.com/birthday/pets/

don't invite too many people or too many unfamiliar faces. it'll frighten your puppy..
the best presents a pet can ever receive from his/her owner are unconditional love and plenty of attention.
:)

Dogs are part of the family. If it makes you happy there's nothing wrong with it. Have fun with your dog.
